Championship action continues in midweek with a relegation six-pointer as Plymouth travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have been flying under Danny Rohl in recent weeks, with four wins from their last five games propelling Wednesday to within three points of safety.

Plymouth remain close to the bottom three, with the Pilgrims only two points clear of the relegation zone and they will be hopeful in turning the tide of results which has seen them pick up just one victory across their last six Championship games.

  • Sheffield Wednesday to win @ 19/20
  • Ike Ugbo to score anytime @ 6/4

Team news

Wednesday continue to be hampered by injuries, with Josh Windass, Juan Delgado, Callum Paterson and Kristian Pedersen all absent on the treatment table.

However, there will be at least one returnee for Danny Rohl as Di’Shon Bernard is available for selection once again after missing the weekend’s victory over Rotherham through suspension.

Pilgrims boss Ian Foster should have a full complement of players to choose from for Tuesday’s encounter after midfielder Adam Forshaw returned from injury from the bench against Ipswich.

The former Leeds United man could start in the midfield in this crucial encounter, with star winger Morgan Whittaker also expected to start as he looks to build upon his tally of 17 goals in the Championship this season.

Match Odds

Wednesday are the favourites going into this fixture at 19/20, while Plymouth are at 11/4 to go back to Devon with all three points.

The draw can be backed at 5/2, while the over 2.5 goals market provides odds of 4/5.

Sheffield Wednesday to win @ 19/20

Many will have thought that Sheffield Wednesday were certainties to go down alongside Rotherham at the end of January, with the Owls nine points away from safety and with just one win in the league in 2024.

However, 12 points from a possible 15 including victories over fellow relegation-threatened sides Rotherham, Millwall and Birmingham has seen the Owls move to within one victory away from escaping the bottom three, although their goal difference would say an extra point would be required.

Wednesday have also lost just twice at Hillsborough across their last 11 games in all competitions, winning six, and could be expected to take all three points against a Plymouth side that have the third-worst away record in the division.

The Pilgrims have won just twice on the road all season and have lost four of their last five home or away in the league and so may struggle to find the required quality to come away with a result.

Ike Ugbo to score anytime @ 6/4

If Wednesday are going to claim victory on Tuesday night, then striker Ike Ugbo is likely to be involved in some way.

The England-born Canadian has scored six goals across his last five appearances for the Owls, scoring over 85% of Wednesday’s goals during this run.

This purple patch should continue against Plymouth, who have conceded 59 league goals this season - the third worst in the division.
