Sheff Utd vs Luton Prediction: Another clean sheet pending for the Blades

Sheffield United are ticking over quite nicely right now. They earned another win in midweek, getting past Swansea thanks to a Josh Tymon own goal. They’ve not set the world alight so far in the second tier, but they are still unbeaten and now up to third in the league.
Their next test comes at home to Luton Town on Saturday afternoon (15:00), as the Hatters look to kick-start their season with a win. It’s been a shocking start for Rob Edwards’ recently-relegated outfit and the manager is beginning to come under pressure at Kenilworth Road. A result here would relieve that pressure, and below you can find my Sheff Utd vs Luton predictions.
Sheff Utd vs Luton Betting Tips
Team News
Sheffield United are still without Oli Arblaster although he is set to return after the international break. Tom Davies and Jack Robinson are not being rushed back to action by Chris Wilder but aside from that, the Blades have a full contingent to select from. The same can’t be said for the visitors.
Jacob Brown and Mads Andersen are long-term absentees for Luton, while Tahith Chong is following concussion protocols and will only be available if he passes those tests. Carlton Morris sat out their last league game and is also a doubt, while Liam Walsh is suspended after incredibly getting sent off just 36 seconds after coming on against Oxford.
Edwards will be desperate to get Morris back into the XI if he is fit enough, given Elijah Adebayo - or Elijah Anuoluwapo Oluwaferanmi Oluwatomi Oluwalana Ayomikulehin Adebayo to give him his full name - is wildly out of form. Alfie Doughty and Victor Moses should both start at wing-back and need to drag the side forward in order to turn this terrible run of form around.
Sheff Utd are priced at 5/6 to take the points, while Luton are available at 13/5 for the win. A draw can be backed at 5/2, over 2.5 goals is 5/6 and BTTS is 8/11. Kieffer Moore is the favourite to open the scoring at 5/1.
Sheff Utd to win to nil @ 11/5
This may feel like a copy and paste job, given I also backed these same selections in midweek, but there’s only one thing to focus on when it comes to the Blades at the moment. Picking them to win to nil, which was a successful shout against Swansea, is simply the best way to go right now.
They’ve now kept five clean sheets in a row, won 13 points out of the last 15, and new goalkeeper Michael Cooper has still only conceded once since arriving from Plymouth. The back four of Alfie Gilchrist, Harry Souttar, Anel Ahmedhodzic and Harrison Burrows are rock-solid and I’m happy to back them to keep a Luton side lacking confidence at bay. Another home win to nil is hopefully on its way.

Hamer to score, Sheff Utd 1-0 Luton @ 40/1
I also backed this one in midweek, and we were so close to it landing. Sheffield United did indeed beat Swansea 1-0, so I got the scoreline correct, but Gustavo Hamer didn’t score, with Tymon instead turning into his own net.
However, given how close we were to winning big, I think we should back this again. Sheff Utd’s last five results read 1-0, 2-0, 1-0, 0-0, 1-0. So backing another 1-0 success seems sensible, while Hamer is their most dangerous attacking option in my eyes.
He has already got four goals to his name and is averaging 1.23 shots on target per game this season. He can find the net again in what should be a tight encounter.
