Sheff Utd vs Burnley

The two worst teams in the Premier League this season, and two of the worst teams to ever play in the top tier, meet at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United host Burnley (15:00). If that doesn’t make you want to watch this one, then fair enough, but we can still find some value in this bottom of the table clash.

Below you can find my Sheff U vs Burnley prediction, featuring team news, match odds and more.

Sheff U vs Burnley Tips

Team News

Sheffield United's injury woes have seriously hampered them this season, with Chris Basham, John Egan, George Baldock, Max Lowe, Tom Davies and Rhy Norrington-Davies all out for the rest of the season. Rhian Brewster has picked up a hamstring issue while Jayden Bogle is also likely to miss this one. Chris Wilder will have to scramble together an XI once again.

Burnley are in a slightly better place, and Dara O’Shea is available again having served his suspension. However, Nathan Redmond and Aaron Ramsey are long-term absentees but Jordan Beyer is getting closer to a return.

Match Odds

The home side are 9/5 to win this game, with Burnley priced at 7/5. That means the away side have a 41% chance of victory, and a draw is priced at 5/2. Goals could be on the agenda here, with BTTS available at 1/2 and over 2.5 goals backable at 8/13

BTTS @ 1/2

This is relatively straightforward in my eyes. There’s been over 2.5 goals in 69% of Sheffield United’s games this season while that figure is 58% for Burnley. I’m backing both teams to find the net here simply based on how poor both defences are.

Sheffield United have conceded a whopping 84 goals this term, and Burnley have let in 68, so you can see why these are the bottom two. The Blades are unable to field a defence that is able to compete at this level, as injuries have decimated their back line. Meanwhile, Burnley have been all over the show at the back, and BTTS has been a winner in five of their last six.

Draw @ 5/2

I cannot pick a winner out of these teams. Given what we have seen so far from these two in the Premier League, it’s hard to pick either side to go and get three points, while a draw makes a whole lot of sense. Burnley have been more competitive in recent weeks, drawing four of their last six games in the league, while Sheffield United have now drawn four of their last five.

Given the form book and the statistics, I actually think we are getting decent value on the draw here. To push the boat out further, I’d place a small wager on the 1-1 correct scoreline, available at 6/1. This feels like the right way to approach this clash between two sides destined for the Championship.
