Shamrock Rovers vs The New Saints Prediction: Entertaining evening expected in Tallaght

Shamrock Rovers and The New Saints are both looking to build from UEFA Conference League victories when they clash in matchday three at the Tallaght Stadium on Thursday (17:45 kick-off, TNT Sports 4). 

The Irish hosts have taken four points from their first two games, leaving them 10th in the standings, while the New Saints have registered one win and a defeat to sit in 19th position.

Shamrock remain without the services of Rory Gaffney, who has been sidelined since May, but Neil Farrugia is available after serving his European suspension in the matchday two win over Larne. 

Sean Hoare is a doubt after missing the last three league fixtures and there are also concerns over the fitness of Danny Mandroiu, who missed the win over Waterford last time out. 

The New Saints are without Matthew Olosunde, who was last seen in action in early September, while Aramide Oteh and Ruan Astles are unavailable as they were not included in the Europa League squad.

Rovers will need to put the disappointment of losing out on the League of Ireland Premier Division title to one side when they welcome The New Saints to the Tallaght Stadium. 

A 2-1 victory at home to Waterford was not enough to deliver league glory for Rovers, but it was the sixth game in a row they have scored in as they continued their impressive form in front of goal. 

The New Saints have also been on fire in the final third, netting 36 times in their current seven-game winning streak, with over 2.5 goals landing in all but one of those contests.
