Sevilla vs Villarreal Prediction: Defences set to struggle again

Both of these sides made high-scoring starts to the new La Liga campaign and that’s set to continue on Friday night. Sevilla are aiming for a stronger campaign after battling relegation last term, while Villarreal need to readjust after some summer sales.

Sevilla vs Villarreal Betting Tips
Team News
Villarreal could hand a debut to new goalkeeper Luiz Junior but outside of that there’s little reason to make changes. Their 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid was a promising start to the campaign.
The Yellow Submarine head into this contest missing Denis Suarez, Juan Foyth and Alfonso Pedraza once again, so a largely unchanged side is likely.
Sevilla are still waiting to hand Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga a debut after he missed their opener, but he’s not expected to feature on Friday. Midfielder Suso is also out, but summer signing Saul Niguez is free to play after serving a suspension last weekend.
Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
Both of these sides drew 2-2 in their opening game of the new campaign, with Sevilla boss Garcia Pimienta returning to former club Las Palmas. He made an encouraging start, with this side twice taking the lead.
As for Villarreal, they faced Atletico Madrid and the immediate return of Alexander Sorloth. He departed for the capital after finishing as the Yellow Submarine’s top scorer, one of three key departures for the club. Defender Jorge Cuenca moved to Fulham, while goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen joined Chelsea.
It says a lot about Villarreal that those two players were sought out following a season which saw them concede 65 times. Their high-scoring form saw over 2.5 goals land in 66% of their league games and without two key pillars at the back they’ve made another high-scoring start.
Sevilla were poor defensively last term too and it remains to be seen how much of a difference their summer additions will make. With each of the last five meetings between these two seeing both teams score, back this to be a high-scoring game.
Arnaut Danjuma Groenveld to score anytime @ 11/5
Villarreal have signed Thierno Barry from FC Basel to replace Sorloth, but their opener saw Arnaut Danjuma start up top. He worked well as the focal point of their 4-4-2 shape, getting three shots in against Atletico.
Danjuma scored the opener and he plays for a side that have plenty of creative spark. Stepping into Sorloth’s role should lead to plenty of chances for the Dutchman, who struck 10 goals in La Liga in 2021/22 before underwhelming loans at Tottenham and Everton.
With a high-scoring game in prospect, Danjuma should get chances and he looks like a good value goalscorer pick at 11/5.
