Sevilla and Alaves are both struggling in the Spanish top-flight this season, separated by just a single point in the battle to avoid the drop.
The pair have won just seven of their combined 38 games and every point will be critical as they aim to escape relegation. Head-to-head results against teams around them could be vital come the end of the campaign so there is plenty to play for on Friday night (KO, 20:00).
Nemanja Gudelj, Dodi Lukebakio, Mariano Diaz and Alfonso Pastor are all definite absentees for Sevilla, who will also be without striker Youssef En-Nesyri due to his involvement with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Joan Jordan, Jesus Navas, Erik Lamela, Orjan Nyland and Marcos Acuna are also doubts for the hosts.
For Alaves, Jon Guridi and Aleksandar Sedlar are both out with injury while Abdel Abqar is at the Africa Cup of Nations. Giuliano Simeone and Rafa Marin are expected to shake off their issues.
Sevilla can be backed at 10/11 for the victory, while Alaves are 16/5 outsiders and the draw is available at 12/5.
Both teams to score, meanwhile, is EVS.
Sevilla to win @ 10/11
Sevilla are enduring another disappointing season, sitting just one point above the relegation zone at the halfway point of the La Liga campaign.
They host fellow strugglers Alaves in a clash that has all the makings of a relegation six-pointer.
The Champions League campaign perhaps took something out of the hosts but they have now crashed out of Europe and can focus squarely on staying up.
Their opponents Alaves have not been much more successful this term - only the bottom two have lost more than their 10 matches - while Cadiz are the only side that have scored fewer than their 15 goals in 19 games.
The visitors have failed to score in four of their last five La Liga outings and that could be the difference between the two teams in this matchup.
Sevilla’s superior firepower means that they are fancied to edge this clash on home soil.
Rafa Mir to score anytime @ 8/5
Youssef En-Nesyri has been Sevilla’s main goal threat this season, netting five times in the league.
However, with the Moroccan away on international duty, his teammates will have to step up.
Rafa Mir has found his opportunities limited this term but with En-Nesyri away, he is likely to lead the line and is fancied to score.
