The first of two Serie A games on Monday evening (17:30 GMT, live on Betfred.com), 10th-placed Sassuolo entertain bottom-of-the-table Genoa, who have just sacked their head coach, Patrick Vieira, at Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia.

Below are my Sassuolo vs Genoa predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Daniel Boloca (knee), Filippo Romagna (calf), Laurs Skjellerup (muscle) and Edoardo Pieragnolo (ACL) are out injured for Sassuolo, who are sweating on the fitness of talismanic forward Domenico Berardi.

The 31-year-old missed Thursday's 2-1 win at Cagliari, but could return here.

Football Odds

Genoa, who have appointed Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito as interim head coaches, may have a full squad available, with Nicolae Stanciu, who has missed their last four matches with a thigh problem, battling to return on Monday.

Sassuolo vs Genoa Predicted Lineups

  • Sassuolo: Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Doig; Vranckx, Matic, Kone; Berardi, Pinamonti, Lauriente
  • Genoa: Leali; Norton-Cuffy, Ostigard, Vasquez, Martin; Frendrup, Masini; Ellertsson, Malinovskyi, Vitinha; Ekhator

Sassuolo vs Genoa Odds

After gaining promotion from Serie B earlier this year, Sassuolo have won four of their first nine games back in the top flight, including three of their last five. I Neroverdi are 7/5 to claim a fifth victory on Monday, implying a 41.7% probability of success, while Genoa, who have lost six times in Serie A this term (D3), are 11/5, or a 31.3% chance, to notch their first win.

The draw is priced at 2/1, both teams to score at 11/10, and over 2.5 total goals at 6/4.

Betfred are offering three Price Boosts, including Sassuolo To Win, Berardi 2+ Shots On Target & Johan Vasquez To Be Carded at 9/1 (was 8/1).

Sassuolo vs Genoa Stats

  • SAS have won three of their last five league games (D1, L1)
  • GEN have lost five of their last six Serie A matches (D1)
  • Vasquez (GEN) has recorded 2+ shots in 3/9 league apps this term
  • SAS have conceded 2+ shots to four different CBs in 25/26

Match Result - Sassuolo @ 7/5

This appears to be a generous price, considering Sassuolo's solid start to the season and Genoa's struggles.

I Neroverdi have won two and lost two of their first four league games at home this term, suffering defeats to Napoli (0-2) and AS Roma (0-1), either side of victories over Lazio (1-0) and Udinese (3-1). It should be noted, though, that reigning champions Napoli and last season's fifth-placed side, Roma, are first and fourth, respectively, after 10 rounds of fixtures, so those losses are more than understandable for a newly-promoted outfit.

Sassuolo's other two defeats came at Cremonese (3-2) and last season's runners-up, Inter Milan (2-1), on August 29 and September 21, respectively.

Thursday's win in Cagliari was a big boost to Fabio Grosso's charges, who had failed to score in their two previous matches, drawing 0-0 at Lecce before losing to Roma. All the more impressive was the fact that it was achieved without Berardi, who scored six goals and registered 13 assists in 29 Serie B contests in 2024/25.

Today's Football Fixtures

Genoa, meanwhile, are at a low ebb, losing five of their last six league games (D1) and failing to score in three of them.

Il Grifone have been particularly poor on their travels, picking up just a single point from four away trips. They drew 1-1 at Como on September 15, netting a 90+2 equaliser through Caleb Ekuban, four minutes after home defender Jacobo Ramon had been sent off, and have since lost 2-1 at each of Bologna, Napoli and Torino.

To their credit, Genoa have scored in all four away games, and perhaps they will be unburdened by the departure of Vieira.

But without a permanent successor in place, I wonder whether they will have enough to overcome a confident Sassuolo side that contains several exciting attackers.

At over EVS, I'm all over the hosts here.

Player to Have 2 or More Shots - Johan Vasquez (GEN) @ 13/8

Genoa defender Vasquez scored three goals in Serie A last season, averaging a shot per game.

The 27-year-old is yet to get off the mark in 2025/26, but the Mexico international is averaging 1.1 shots per game and has recorded 2+ in three of his nine appearances.

Four opposition centre-backs have recorded 2+ shots in a game against Sassuolo this season, including I Neroverdi's last three at home.

In victories over Lazio and Udinese, Mario Gila and Oumar Solet shot three times and twice, respectively, while against Roma last time out at the Mapei Stadium, Zeki Celik registered two efforts.
