Sassuolo vs Como Prediction: Unwanted hat-trick for I Neroverdi

Uefa Champions League-chasing Como came off worse in a seven-goal thriller at home to Inter Milan (3-4) last Sunday, but Cesc Fabregas’ side are only two points behind fourth-placed Juventus, and can overtake the Old Lady on Friday (17:30 BST, live on Betfred.com) with a victory at Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium.
Below are my Sassuolo vs Como predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Sassuolo skipper Domenico Berardi is suspended after seeing red for fighting in the tunnel at half-time of last Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Genoa.
Scotland international Josh Doig is banned, too, after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, while Edoardo Pieragnolo, Filippo Romagna, Fali Cande (all knee) and Daniel Boloca (muscle) miss out with injuries.
Ulisses Garcia (muscle), Aster Vranckx and Darryl Bakola (all unspecified) are doubts, too.
Jayden Addai (Achilles) appears to be Como's only injury absentee.
Sassuolo vs Como Predicted Lineups
- Sassuolo: Muric; Walukiewicz, Muharemovic, Idzes, Coulibaly; Kone, Matic, Thorstvedt; Volpato, Pinamonti, Lauriente
- Como: Butez; Smolcic, Ramon, Kempf, Valle; Perrone, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas
Sassuolo are 4/1, or a 20% chance, to beat Como, who are 7/10 to do the league double over I Neroverdi, implying a 58.8% probability of success, with the draw offered at 11/4.
Sassuolo vs Como Stats
- COM have beaten SAS twice already this season, keeping a clean sheet in both games
- SAS have failed to score at home against any of the current top-six sides (L4)
- Izdes (SAS) fouled Douvikas (COM) three times in November's reverse meeting
To Win to Nil - Como @ 9/5
Como shipped four goals at home to Inter last Sunday, but I Nerazzurri are reigning Serie A champions and are currently leading this season’s standings by nine points.
Prior to that visit from Cristian Chivu’s charges, I Lariani had kept back-to-back clean sheets at home to Pisa (5-0) and away to Udinese (0-0), recording their 14th and 15th league shutouts, the most in Serie A this season.
On Friday, Como face Sassuolo, an opponent they have already kept out twice in 2025/26, beating them 3-0 in the Coppa Italia in September and 2-0 in the league a couple of months later.
Both meetings were in Como, but Sassuolo’s goalscoring numbers on home soil aren’t exactly encouraging.
I Neroverdi have struck just 19 times in 16 home games, ranking them 12th for goals scored at home, and they’ve particularly struggled against the big boys.
Sassuolo have failed to score in six separate home matches in Serie A this season; all six have been against sides currently ranked in the top 12, with five of those in the top eight, and four in the top six.
Fabio Grosso’s men have failed to score against a current top-six club, losing to Napoli (0-2), AS Roma (0-1), Juventus (0-3) and Inter (0-5).
Como, who are averaging the fourth-most away points per game in this season’s Serie A (1.73), have triumphed seven times on their league travels, including twice in their last three trips, and haven’t been beaten on the road since suffering a 1-0 loss at Roma on December 15.
Fabregas’ side have also conceded just 11 times in 15 away games, the joint-fewest in Serie A alongside Milan, keeping six clean sheets and winning four of those matches.

Player to Receive a Card - Jay Idzes (SAS) @ 4/1
Sassuolo centre-back Jay Idzes and Como centre-forward Tasos Douvikas were involved in a big battle back in November, with the former fouling the latter three times, and the striker returning the favour once.
Indonesia international Idzes is averaging a foul every 90 minutes in this season's Serie A, while Douvikas is averaging 1.7 fouls won per 90 in the competition.
Idzes was shown five yellow cards in the previous league campaign for former club Venezia, and while he has only been booked twice this term, another clash with Douvikas, who has lured Inter's Carlos Augusto and Pisa's Simone Canastrelli into yellow-card challenges in his last three league games, could bring about his fourth caution.
