There’s a battle between two of the top four sides in Serie A going on on Saturday night when Roma host Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico (20:45 local, 19:45 BST, live on Betfred.com and TNT Sports 1).

Gian Piero Gasperini has led his frugal Giallorossi into second spot after six rounds, but the visitors are Italy’s clear top scorers to this point. So my Roma vs Inter Milan predictions, which follow below with full team news and Betfred’s latest match odds, will have to consider which run is about to be broken.

Roma vs Inter Milan Betting Tips

  • Roma to win @ 11/5
  • Matias Soule to score anytime @ 3/1

Team News

There’s plenty to consider for both head coaches.

Gasperini will have to choose between Artem Dovbyk and Evan Ferguson for the lead striker role, with the Ukrainian currently looking most likely to get the nod.

There’s also a choice to be made over the attacking-midfield slot alongside, with Matias Soule set to be partnered by Lorenzo Pellegrini rather than Paulo Dybala.

At wing-back, it’s a toss-up between Angelino and Liverpool loanee Kostas Tsimikas.

For Inter, Cristian Chivu is again without Marcus Thuram, but Ange-Yoan Bonny more than made up for his countryman’s absence against Cremonese with a goal and three assists in the 4-1 win.

Lautaro Martinez should start despite his travels during the international break. Pio Esposito is on standby should Chivu believe the workload to be too much for his skipper on short rest.

There’s no clear number one for the Nerazzurri right now, but Yann Sommer should get the go-ahead once more having returned to decent effect against Cremonese having been dropped for two matches in favour of Josep Martinez.

Roma vs Inter Milan Predicted Lineups

  • Roma: Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka; Wesley, Kone, Cristante, Angelino; Soule, Pellegrini; Dovbyk
  • Inter: Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Bonny, Lautaro

Roma vs Inter Milan Odds

Where to start? Second-placed Roma are not the favourites for this match. Fourth-placed Inter are the 13/10 choice at an implied probability of 43.5%.

The hosts can be picked up at 11/5 (a 31.3% implied chance), while the draw is at 9/4.

Surprise, surprise. Lautaro Martinez is the shortest price for the first goal at 9/2, with Thuram 5/1 and Esposito and Bonny both 11/2. Dovbyk, also 11/2, is favourited among Roma players.

Roma vs Inter Milan Stats

  • The Nerazzurri have hit the target with just 30.6% of their shots in Serie A (37/121), with Roma working the keeper 36.3% of the time (28/77)
  • Matias Soule has been involved in five of the Lupi’s seven goals in the league (three goals, two assists)

Today's Football Fixtures

Roma to win @ 11/5

When you think of Gasperini, you surely think of his sensational attack-heavy Atalanta teams. In his nine years in Bergamo, La Dea scored a barnstorming 94.7 goals per season.

But look at Roma so far in 2025/26. In eight games in all competitions, they have nine goals.

At this rate they would need to play in Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Europa League, Champions League, Conference League and about eight other knockout tournaments to get anything close to 94.7 goals.

Yet they are second in the league with good reason. They have conceded just twice in six Serie A matches, and have been solid throughout.

While they haven’t exactly had the toughest of starts – Bologna, Pisa, Lazio, Verona and Fiorentina have been beaten so far and they somehow conspired to lose to Torino – there’s a lot to be said for their backline being injected with confidence.

So I think they can do enough to frustrate Inter, who have lost to both Udinese and Juventus after failing to shut the gate behind them when going gung-ho with the ball.

That 11/5 is a great price for Roma. It’s the kind of thing I’d expect to see against 2010 Inter, not this good-but-beatable version.

Matias Soule to score anytime @ 3/1

Just look at the evidence. Roma might not create as much as Inter, but they convert well.

And few do that better than Soule, who has again committed himself to Argentina over Italy this week.

He has three goals from a 1.41 xG in the league thus far, with two assists from 0.89 xA.

Having netted in successive victories against Verona and Fiorentina, the 22-year-old is very much in form, and on the break he can be superbly clinical.

Inter’s games this season suggest Soule, Dovbyk and Pellegrini (or Dybala, if he plays) could get the opportunities to show just what damage they can do on the counter.

So, to that end, I love the look of the 3/1 about Soule scoring at any time.
