Roma vs Genoa Prediction: Same old Roma, keeping clean sheets

Roma’s Serie A title hopes need a boost following last weekend’s loss to Juventus, and a win against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday (20:45 local, 19:45 GMT, live on DAZN) could be crucial in sticking with the leading pack.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Giallorossi have been hard to break down this term, but he comes up against a club legend in Daniele De Rossi, who succeeded Patrick Vieira at Marassi in November. Read on for my Roma vs Genoa predictions, along with the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Team News
Africa Cup of Nations absences are much of the issue for clubs at this time, with Roma missing Neil El Aynaoui and Evan Ndicka, and Genoa without Jean Onana.
Gasperini will have to make a decision between Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala, while Mario Hermoso needs to prove his fitness in time. Jan Ziolkowski comes in.
Morten Thorsby, Albert Gronbaek and Maxwel Cornet are among the doubts for De Rossi.
Roma vs Genoa Predicted Lineups
- Roma: Svilar; Mancini, Ziolowski, Hermoso; Celik, Cristante, Kone, Wesley; Soule, Baldanzi; Dybala
- Genoa:Sommariva; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Frendrup, Malinovskyi, Ellertsson, Martin; Vitinha, Colombo
The Lupi came into the weekend in fourth spot in Serie A, and that is reflected in the odds. Roma are 8/13 for the win, with the visitors 5/1.
You can back the draw at 5/2, while it’s 5/4 for Both Teams to Score. Artem Dovbyk is shortest price for the first goal at 3/1.
Roma vs Genoa Stats
- After 3 defeats in their first 12 games (W9), Roma have lost 3 of the 4 since in Serie A
- The Giallorossi have recorded 7 clean sheets this term, all of them in wins
- Genoa haven’t kept a clean sheet in 9 games since their 0-0 draw with Parma under Patrick Vieira
Only Roma to Score @ 13/10
There’s has been quite the trend to Roma games this season.
They are tight, they are tactical, they are classic Gasperini… if you’re thinking of the two-stint Genoa boss between 2006 and 2016 rather than his free-flowing Atalanta team.
Jose Mourinho once called Gasperini the most fun head coach to come up against since every slight change in approach would immediately be matched in the other dugout.
And this term, Gasperini’s Roma have won seven games to nil while losing five in the same manner.
Do I don’t see too much different occurring here, with the Giallorossi being the ones to come out on top in a typically tight affair.
The 13/10 odds imply a 43.5% probability, which is punter-friendly for my mind.

Under 8.5 Corners @ 11/10
There haven’t been a mountain of corners in either teams fixtures this season, and I don’t see this as being an Alamo-type performance from either.
Roma have seen an average of 8.63 corners per game, and Genoa 8.75. Here, they should be slightly under the going rate.
And there I see some value in the ‘Under 8.5’ bet at 11/10 and an implied probability of 47.6%.
