Pisa vs Lazio Prediction: Visitors to dominate from the off in Tuscany

After fallen agonisingly short of recording a shock win over leaders AC Milan, Pisa’s search for a first Serie A victory since May 12, 1991 continues against Lazio on Thursday at the Arena Garibaldi (20:45 local, 19:45 GMT, live on Betfred.com and DAZN).
Zachary Athekame’s late equaliser for Milan couldn’t stop the Nerazzurri lifting themselves off the foot of the table but they’re now winless in eight. My Pisa vs Lazio predictions follow, with latest team news and Betfred’s full match odds.

Team News
Pisa boss Alberto Gilardino is without Raul Albiol, who had to be replaced in the 2-2 draw with Milan. The Spaniard should be back in training in time to feature against Torino next Sunday, but misses the visit of Lazio.
Elsewhere there are long-term injuries for Mateus Lusuardi, Tomas Esteves and Calvin Stengs, while a late decision will be made in defence, with Giovanni Bonfanti potentially replacing Albiol rather than Daniel Denoon.
Maurizio Sarri has a number of Lazio players missing due to injury. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Nicolo Rovella, Taty Castellanos, Matteo Cancellieri and Nuno Tavares are all out until the international break, while Samuel Gigot could be out until mid-December.
Elseid Hysaj’s return date from a knee problem is yet to be determined.
Pisa vs Lazio Predicted Lineups
- Pisa: Semper; Caracciolo, Canestrelli, Bonfanti; Toure, Marin, Aebischer, Akinsanmiro, Leris; Moreo, Nzola
- Lazio: Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni
The Torri are a distant 11/4 to break their win duck on Thursday night, implying a 26.7% probability of a home win.
The draw is a 9/4 shot, while Lazio are 11/10 to win the match and improve on their position of 10th in the Serie A standings.
Despite netting just once in eight matches, Boulaye Dia is the shortest-priced player to open the goalscoring at 11/2.
Veteran Lazio forward Pedro and Pisa’s Mbala Nzola are both 6/1 chances.
Pisa vs Lazio Stats
- Pisa haven’t scored at home since their return to the top flight (two 0-1s, two 0-0s)
- In every game in which Lazio have scored this season, they have netted at least once in the first half
- The Biancocelesti have kept consecutive clean sheets since their epic 3-3 draw with Torino
Lazio to Win to Nil @ 9/4
Pisa can’t go on forever without scoring a goal on home soil, but I just haven’t seen enough from them to suggest they’ll get over that hump against Lazio on Thursday.
They threatened to cause an upset against Roma but then could have been more heavily beaten but for VAR. And even when they had a goal ruled out for a marginal handball call against Fiorentina, the Viola had two more struck off themselves.
Too often, Gilardino’s side have had the game dictated to them at the Garibaldi, and I think that could happen once more against a team coming off an excellent win over Juventus.
Lazio might have a string of players out, but they still have more than enough star quality to see off the struggling hosts. I think 9/4 is a great price for an away win to nil.

Half-Time/Full-Time: Lazio/Lazio @ 23/10
Whenever Lazio score, they score early.
Their winner against Juventus came inside nine minutes, they led 2-1 at the break against Torino and had 3-0 and 2-0 advantages over Verona and Genoa respectively come the midway point.
Sarri has got them playing with belief from the off, and once they get ahead they are difficult to peg back. They have four clean sheets this season, and only in the 3-3 draw with Torino have they scored without going on to win.
So the 23/10 offered about a half-time lead being maintained through to the final whistle, at an implied 30.3%, looks good to me.
