Lazio vs Inter Milan Prediction: Martinez to make his mark again as I Nerazzurri coast to Coppa Italia success

Inter Milan dispatched Lazio 3-0 in Rome last Saturday, but that Serie A success will count for little when the two teams meet again on Wednesday (20:00 BST, Premier Sports 1) in the final of the Coppa Italia. Nine-time champions Inter last won this competition three years ago, while Lazio's seventh and most recent trophy lift was in 2019.

Below are my Lazio vs Inter Milan predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this midweek meeting at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio vs Inter Milan Betting Tips

  • To Win to Nil - Inter Milan @ 7/4
  • First Goalscorer - Lautaro Martinez (INT) @ 7/2

Team News

Matteo Cancellieri, Patric and Danilo Cataldi are all doubts for Lazio due to muscle issues, while a late decision is likely to be made over Danilo Cataldi, who has missed his side's last three games with a groin injury.

Ivan Provedel (shoulder) is still in the treatment room, but skipper Mattia Zaccagni, who missed last Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Inter in Serie A, should return for Wednesday's final.

Football Odds

As for Inter Milan, only Hakan Calhanoglu (calf) looks likely to sit out in midweek, with Francesco Pio Esposito back in training after a minor back problem caused him to miss out on the weekend.

Lazio vs Inter Milan Predicted Lineups

  • Lazio: Motta; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Tavares; Basic, Patric, Taylor; Isaksen, Noslin, Zaccagni
  • Inter Milan: J. Martinez; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Sucic, Zielinski, Dimarco; Thuram, L. Martinez

Lazio vs Inter Milan Odds

Lazio, who haven't beaten Inter Milan since October 2021, are 4/1 underdogs to win in regulation time on Wednesday, implying a 20% chance of success. I Nerazzurri, meanwhile, are 8/13 favourites (61.9% chance) in the 90-minute market, with the draw, which would send the tie to extra time, priced at 3/1.

Betfred are offering a couple of Price Boosts for this year's Coppa Italia Final, including Inter skipper Lautaro Martinez to Score and to Assist at 18/1 (was 14/1).

Lazio vs Inter Milan Stats

  • LAZ have failed to score in six of the last eight H2H's, losing seven times (D1)
  • INT have beaten LAZ to nil twice already this season
  • L. Martinez (INT) has opened the scoring in both league meetings this term

To Win to Nil - Inter Milan @ 7/4

Lazio have found it tough to crack the Inter code in recent seasons, failing to breach I Nerazzurri's back line in six of the last eight head-to-heads, seven of which they have lost (D1).

Inter's title-winning defence this season hasn't been as impressive as when they last lifted the Scudetto in 2023/24, conceding 31 times in 36 Serie A games so far in 2025/26 compared to the 22 they conceded in 38 two campaigns ago.

However, Cristian Chivu's charges have kept three clean sheets in their last five games across all competitions, recording back-to-back shutouts against Parma (2-0) and Lazio last week.

Lazio failed to score for the second time this season against Inter last Saturday, having lost 2-0 in Milan last November, and they've lost four of the last five meetings between the two, blanking in all four defeats, with a 2-2 draw at San Siro in May 2025 proving to be the outlier.

Maurizio Sarri's Lazio side have been disrupted by the mid-season departure of Taty Castellanos, who joined West Ham United in January.

The Argentine wasn't adequately replaced in the transfer market, with January arrival Petar Ratkov failing to score in any of his eight appearances, leading Sarri to rotate between Boulaye Dia and Tijjani Noslin as his centre-forward, but the two have struck just seven times between them in all competitions this season (Dia - two, Noslin - five).

I'm backing Inter to snuff out Lazio's attack and record a third head-to-head victory of the season, without the need for extra-time in Rome.

First Goalscorer - Lautaro Martinez (INT) @ 7/2

There's a question mark over whether Martinez will lead Inter's forward line from the start on Wednesday, having only recently recovered from a spell on the sidelines, but he's featured in their last two games, providing an assist off the bench against Parma before playing the first 63 minutes of their weekend win at the Stadio Olimpico, where he opened the scoring in the sixth minute and set up the second goal, scored by Petar Sucic.

The 28-year-old has a terrific goalscoring record against Lazio, netting eight times in 15 appearances against the Rome club, and he's opened the scoring in both meetings this season, notching in the third minute of November's 2-0 victory at San Siro.

Martinez's only other start since Inter's 3-1 UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-off first-leg loss to Bodo/Glimt on February 18 was against Lazio's bitter rivals, AS Roma, on 5 April, when he bagged a brace in a 5-2 thrashing at San Siro, where he opened the scoring inside the first minute.

With nothing left to play for in the league, I think Martinez will get the nod to start Wednesday's Coppa Italia Final, making him a prime candidate in the First Goalscorer market. At 7/2, I'm happy to take him on here to make it three opening goals in a row against Lazio.
