Team News

Raffaele Di Gennaro (wrist), Matteo Darmian (calf), Denzel Dumfries (ankle), Andy Diouf, Davide Frattesi (both muscle) and Tomas Palacios (thigh) all look likely to miss Sunday's match for Inter due to injury.

Alessandro Bastoni, Piotr Zielinski, Nicolo Barella and Marcus Thuram are set to return to the starting XI after being dropped down to the bench for Wednesday's 2-0 win at Parma.

As for Napoli, Sam Beukema (foot), Billy Gilmour (groin), Frank Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku (all thigh) and David Neres (ankle) are confined to the treatment room.

Former Inter defender Juan Jesus should come back into the starting XI after he was benched for Wednesday's 2-2 draw at home to Hellas Verona, with Leonardo Spinazzola set to join him.

Napoli are unbeaten in their last four head-to-heads with Inter (W1, D3), triumphing on home soil in October's meeting, but Gli Azzurri haven't beaten I Nerazzurri at San Siro since February 2020, and that was in the Coppa Italia semi-finals; their last league victory over Inter in Milan came in April 2017.

Antonio Conte's visitors are 4/1 to triumph on Sunday and move to within a point of their hosts, who are 8/11 favourites, implying a 57.9% probability of success, with a fourth draw in the last five between the two teams offered at 5/2.

Napoli star Scott McTominay scored his side's second goal in October's reverse fixture, and he was also on the scoresheet in last season's corresponding fixture at San Siro.

The Scotland international's club teammate, Juan Jesus, is averaging 1.6 tackles per game in Serie A this term, despite three of his 12 appearances coming as a substitute.

The 34-year-old, who operates on the left-hand side of a three-man defence, recorded four tackles in his most recent outing, a 2-0 win at Lazio on January 4, and after sitting out Napoli's midweek meeting with Verona, he's expected to return to the starting XI this Sunday.

The Brazilian made four tackles in October's victory over Inter, and looks a good bet to register at least two in Milan.

Inter are on a six-game win streak in Serie A, scoring 13 goals and conceding just twice since a Derby della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan (0-1) on November 23.

Napoli have won five of their last seven league games (D1, L1), but their squad has been decimated by injuries, and while they deserve credit for rescuing a point in midweek, going two goals down at home to relegation-threatened Verona has sparked serious concerns about their ability to retain the title.

Gli Azzurri's record against Inter at San Siro is poor, losing five and drawing two of their last seven league visits.

Only Udinese (1-2) and Milan have taken points off Inter at San Siro this season, and I expect Cristian Chivu's side to continue their winning run in the league on Sunday.

I'm adding in under 3.5 goals, too, with 10 of Inter's 14 victories in Serie A this term featuring three or fewer strikes, while all four of Napoli's defeats in the competition have gone under 3.5.
