Inter Milan vs Lecce Prediction: Treble trouble from Thuram at 12/5

Inter Milan have a great chance to hammer home their advantage at the top of Serie A on Wednesday when they welcome 17th-placed Lecce to San Siro (20:45 local, 19:45 GMT, live on Betfred.com and DAZN).
Cristian Chivu’s men were twice denied by Scott McTominay and Napoli on Sunday, but their three-point lead could be extended for at least 24 hours with a win over the Salentini. See my Inter Milan vs Lecce predictions, as well as full team news and Betfred’s latest match odds.

Team News
Chivu is likely to use a little creative licence with his starting XI given the nature of the opposition, which means Lautaro Martinez is among the potential candidates to be rested.
Hakan Calhanoglu is out for three weeks with a calf problem, so Petar Sucic and Piotr Zielinski will line up alongside Nicolo Barella in midfield. The Turkish star is one of seven unavailable through injury, including Davide Frattesi, Matteo Darmian and Denzel Dumfries.
Lecce gaffer Eusebio Di Francesco is set to send his team out with the intention of making things tough for the capolista first and foremost.
He has three players out through suspensions though, with Lameck Banda, Kialonda Gaspar and Ylber Ramadani all being forced to sit out, while Medon Berisha, Christian Fruchtl, Francesco Camarda and Gaby Jean are injured. Tete Morente could be back among the subs.
Inter Milan vs Lecce Predicted Lineups
- Inter: Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Barella, Zielinski, Sucic, Carlos Augusto; Thuram, Bonny
- Lecce: Falcone; Veiga, Siebert, Tiago Gabriel, Gallo; Kaba, Coulibaly, Maleh; Pierotti, Stulic, Sottil
The Nerazzurri are prohibitively short-priced favourites to win this game at 1/8, with an implied probability of 88.9%. At 20/1 (4.8%), Lecce are about as big an outsider as you will find in any Serie A season.
It’s 7/1 for the game to end in a draw.
Lautaro is a 5/2 favourite for the opening goal of the game, while Marcus Thuram is 11/4 and both Ange-Yoan Bonny and Pio Esposito 3/1.
Inter Milan vs Lecce Stats
- Inter have won the last 6 meetings between these 2 sides, with the 5 most recent victories coming at an aggregate score of 14-0
- Marcus Thuram is averaging one shot at goal every 26.8 minutes in Serie A this season
- Lecce are the lowest scorers in the top flight with just 13 goals in 19 matches
Handicap +2: Inter -2 @ 23/20
All things being even, Inter should win this at an absolute canter. They have 10 more goals than any other team in the league and are coming up against the worst attack of the lot.
While Chivu will rotate his players where necessary in what is a busy period of the season, it’s a conservative prediction to go with a Nerazzurri win by at least three goals.

Marcus Thuram to Have 3 or More Shots on Target @ 12/5
He might not have found the net as much as he may have hoped this season, but Thuram has proved a constant threat.
He’s averaging more than three shots at goal per 90 in Serie A in 2025/26, and given the quality of the opposition he’s got to expect an escalation in the quantity of opportunities on Wednesday night.
I can well imagine the Frenchman sending in shots with abandon against the struggling Salentini, so the 12/5 about him at least working the keeper three times or more looks generous from a punter’s point of view.
