Hellas Verona vs Udinese Prediction: Visitors a value play

A six-game winless run has seen Hellas Verona slip into the Serie A relegation places, four points from safety and very much in a battle for survival.

Udinese have no such fears at the moment and are pushing for a place in the top half of the Italian top-flight table, and Kosta Runjaic’s men will be targeting another three points on their travels, against a side in deep trouble. The two teams meet in Verona on Monday (19:45 GMT, live on Betfred.com).

Verona have a whole host of issues ahead of the visit of Udinese. Giovane has made the move to Napoli, while Armel Bella-Kotchap, Tomas Suslov and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro are on the treatment table.

Enzo Ebosse picked up a knock against Cremonese, while Martin Frese and Rafik Belghali are also doubtful after missing that 0-0 draw. However, Unai Nunez is available after suspension.

Nicolo Zaniolo missed Udinese 1-0 defeat to Inter, but the winger is now set for a few weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury. Adam Buksa and Jakub Piotrowski are also missing for the visitors.

Verona are 9/5 to collect a much-needed home victory, although Udinese shade favouritism at 7/4 while the draw is a 2/1 chance.

The goal expectancy is low, with over 2.5 available at 6/4 while both teams to score can be backed at even money.

A run of six Serie A matches without success has seen Verona dragged into a relegation battle and things may yet get worse before they get better.

Paolo Zanetti has lost key forward Giovane to Napoli in a €20m deal and could be without seven first-team players when Udinese come to Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Verona have failed to score in four of their last six matches, have hit only 18 efforts on target in that run and Giovane is no longer around to improve that output.

Udinese only went down 1-0 to Serie A leaders Inter Milan last time out and they have won four of their 10 away league matches this term, with Verona having won only once at home.

That solid enough record includes an excellent 2-1 victory at the San Siro against Inter back in August, and anything like a repeat of that effort should see Kosta Runjaic’s men collect three points against a depleted Verona side.

Keinan Davis to score first @ 9/2

Former Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis is just one goal away from equalling the most productive campaign of his career and his seventh strike of the Serie A season could open the scoring against Verona.

The Stevenage-born striker is averaging 2.18 shots per 90 minutes in the league this season and that number may increase against a struggling Verona side.

Nicolo Zaniolo’s injury is likely to mean that even more chances will go through Davis and the 27-year-old rates a play to score first on Monday night.
