Fiorentina vs Lazio Prediction: La Viola can take step towards safety

Fiorentina have a busy week ahead of them as they face Lazio in Serie A on Monday (19:45 BST, live on Betfred.com) before Crystal Palace visit the Artemio Franchi on Thursday for the second leg of their Conference League quarter-final. The domestic fixture should take priority for La Viola, who went into this round of league games just five points clear of danger, and their European hopes look slim at best after a 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

Lazio arrive in good form as they are on a five-game unbeaten run. The visitors have little left to play for in the league, however, and may already be looking ahead to the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final with Atalanta later this month. Team News

Fiorentina are without a couple of key man as Albert Gudmundsson and Nicolo Fagioli are both suspended. Niccolo Fortini is injured, but Fabiano Parisi and Moise Kean may return.

Parisi has missed the last two games, while top scorer Kean missed the first leg against Crystal Palace with a shin injury.

Lazio skipper Mattia Zaccagni and first-choice keeper Ivan Provedel are sidelined, with Samuel Gigot and playmaker Nicolo Rovella also unavailable. Lorenzo Pellegrini, Patric and Mario Gila are rated as doubts.

Fiorentina are slight favourites at 11/8 to win, Lazio can be backed at 11/5 and a draw is 21/10.

Lazio’s last three games have all featured fewer than three goals but the reverse fixture was an entertaining 2-2 draw and over 2.5 goals is priced at 6/5, with both teams to score 10/11.

Fiorentina are battling the drop but their league position is due to a woeful start to the season and since the turn of the year their form has improved dramatically.

The fact they have an upcoming European game isn’t a major concern here as Serie A survival will be their priority, so we should see their best available XI take to the field.

Lazio are in good form but they have little left to play for in Serie A and their road results haven’t been particularly impressive of late. The Biancocelesti have lost at Torino and drawn at Cagliari and Lecce across their last five league trips - failing to score in all of those games - and they may come unstuck against a Fiorentina side scrapping for survival.

La Viola claimed a 1-1 draw with runaway leaders Inter Milan in their last home game, and a similar level of performance would probably be enough to earn three points against mid-table Lazio on Monday.

Robin Gosens to score anytime @ 13/2

As an outside bet, an anytime effort from Fiorentina’s Robin Gosens stands out as he has a great record against Lazio.

The German scored in the reverse fixture, and in 10 meetings with Lazio he has managed seven direct goal involvements - four goals and three assists.

Gosens averages 1.2 shots per game across his home appearances in Serie A and he has a shooting accuracy of around 50% for the entirety of the season. With a few key attackers potentially unavailable for the hosts, they may need other members of their team to step up and Gosens is an interesting option at the prices.
