The Scudetto has changed hands in each of the last five seasons, with Juventus, who won nine straight Serie A titles between 2012 and 2019, the last side to have retained the trophy. Napoli will be looking to end that run in 2026, having pipped Inter Milan to the title on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign.

Below are Betfred's Serie A Winner Odds 25/26 Season, where I profile some of the main contenders.

Napoli @ 15/8

Antonio Conte inspired Napoli to a second title in three years in his first season in charge at the club. The Italian tactician benefitted from his side not playing in European competition, but it was still a special achievement given that their Scudetto rivals, Inter Milan, reached their second Uefa Champions League final in two seasons, highlighting the quality within the Nerazzurri's ranks.

Scott McTominay proved to be a special signing from Manchester United, netting 12 times in Serie A en route to claiming the league's honour of Most Valuable Player.

Conte and his charges even coped with the mid-season sale of Georgia winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who had scored five goals and provided three assists in 17 league appearances, to Paris Saint-Germain, edging out Inter by a point on the final day of the campaign.

Football Odds

The question now is whether Gli Azzurri can juggle the demands of Serie A and Champions League football. They will no longer have a full week to prepare for most games, and opponents will now be wiser to their tactics and more motivated to beat them.

Giacomo Raspadori, who scored six times in Serie A last season, including a vital winner against Lecce (0-1) in the 35th round of fixtures on May 3, joined Atletico Madrid earlier this month, but Conte has made a couple of attacking additions, signing Dutch winger Noa Lang from PSV Eindhoven and towering Udinese centre-forward Lorenzo Lucca (loan).

Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (loan, Torino), Dutch defender Sam Beukema (Bologna) and Spanish full-back Miguel Gutierrez (Girona) have also pitched up in Naples, so Conte can't claim he has been left wanting.

A serious injury to last season's top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, is likely to result in the Belgian forward spending a significant period on the sidelines, but with Lucca brought in on an initial loan, his absence shouldn't prove too catastrophic.

We will have to wait and see how they adapt to the demands of midweek fixtures in Europe, but Napoli look well set up to mount a strong defence of their title.

Internazionale @ 5/2

Inter narrowly missed out on retaining the title in 2024/25, so you can bet they will be extra motivated to get their hands on the trophy again next May.

After four seasons, though, Simone Inzaghi left his post as the Nerazzurri's head coach, following a humiliating 5-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final. Former defender Cristian Chivu was brought in as the Italian's replacement, but the Romanian, who led Parma to safety in Serie A, failed to make an instant impact, drawing 1-1 to Monterrey in his side's first 2025 Fifa Club World Cup game in the USA.

Then, after guiding Inter to the last 16 of the competition, they were shocked 2-0 by Fluminense.

Inter were active in the immediate off-season, prior to the Club World Cup, recruiting Petar Sucic (Dinamo Zagreb) and Luis Henrique (Olympique Marseille), but since then, they have only signed French forward Ange-Yoan Bonny (Parma), and that transfer went through on July 5.

The Nerazzurri haven't lost too many players of note, but is a bigger refresh needed to get back on top of Italian football?

Chivu is untested at the highest level as a head coach, too, so it's shaping up to be a fascinating season.

Juventus @ 9/2

After nine consecutive league titles, few people would have predicted Juventus finishing outside the top two for five successive seasons, but that's exactly what has transpired.

They've ended fourth three times in that period, including in 2024/25, when Thiago Motta was sacked in March and replaced by former midfielder Igor Tudor. The Croat guided the Old Lady to Champions League qualification, but hasn't exactly inspired confidence, particularly following an abject Club World Cup campaign where, after thrashing Al-Ain (5-0) and Wydad Casablanca (4-1), they were humbled by Manchester City (2-5) and knocked out in the last 16 by Real Madrid (0-1).

Several of last season's loanees, notably Francisco Conceicao (FC Porto) and Pierre Kalulu (AC Milan), have joined permanently, while Portuguese full-back Joao Mario (FC Porto) and Canadian striker Jonathan David (Lille OSC) have been brought in to improve the starting XI.

However, there is a recognition that more improvements are needed, but a failure to sell Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic appears to be hindering their progress in the market.

Juve are third-favourites to lift the Serie A title this season, and they may take inspiration from Napoli, who finished third and 10th in 2021/22 and 2023/24, respectively, before claiming top honours the following year.

However, it's tough to see Juve matching those achievements, as their squad looks significantly weaker than Napoli's and Inter's.

AC Milan @ 11/2

Milan last won Serie A in 2021/22, and that remains their only league title success in the last 14 seasons.

The Rossoneri finished eighth last season, missing out on European football, which could actually help their domestic form this term.

Whether they can 'do a Napoli' is another thing, but a drastic improvement is expected from Milan, who have reappointed six-time Serie A-winning head coach, Massimiliano Allegri, as their new manager. The 58-year-old led Milan to the title in 2011 and later won five consecutive Scudetti with Juventus, as well as five Coppa Italia trophies.

Can Allegri emulate Conte's achievements?

Luka Modric (Real Madrid), Samuele Ricci (Torino) and Ardon Jashari (Club Brugge) have bolstered Milan's midfield, while there have been additions in defence and attack, too, so the club has shown a level of ambition, and that should get them much closer to the top teams.

At 11/2, Milan may represent some sort of value.

AS Roma @ 12/1

Claudio Ranieri rescued Roma's season in 2024/25, but the Giallorossi were forced to find another head coach in the summer after the 'Tinkerman' reiterated his desire to retire from coaching duties.

Another veteran Italian boss, Gian Piero Gasperini, has been brought in from Atalanta, where he achieved great success, notably winning the 2023/24 Uefa Europa League.

Roma haven't won the Scudetto since 2000/01, when their attack was spearheaded by Gabriel Batistuta, Francesco Totti and Vincenzo Montella, who all got into double figures for goals.

Returning to the top four for the first time since 2017/18 is the challenge for Gasperini, though.
