Saturday Scottish Football Tips: A 3/1 Treble from North of the Border

The Scottish Premiership may be in cold storage for the winter break, but plenty is going on in the Championship. Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse pinpoints the value…
Scottish Saturday Accumulator Tips:
Leg 1 - Partick to beat Arbroath @ 4/9
We begin this weekend’s Scottish football accumulator with the first of two bets from the Championship. In most weeks, we’d focus on the Premiership, but it’ll be the end of the month before top-flight games return.
Thankfully, that gives a chance to enjoy one of the most competitive leagues in British football. A 10-team division offering one automatic promotion place to the Premiership, three playoff places, an automatic relegation spot, and a relegation playoff berth. So, there’s plenty to play for this season, and the Premiership break gives these sides an opportunity to shine.
Partick is one of six or more teams in the running for a promotion push at present, with Thistle starting in third. A home win for Glasgow’s third team is expected and would help strengthen their push for the playoffs. They’ve taken two wins and a draw from their last four and beat Queens Park by the odd goal in five last time. Thistle enjoys the home advantage and will better an Arbroath that’s second from the bottom and winless in three.
Leg 2 - Ayr to beat Inverness @ 11/8
Staying with the second-tier of Scottish football, we’re backing Ayr United to win at home when hosting the mouthful that is Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The locals are performing better than expected at this level, losing just one of their last four league starts.
The Honest Men took five points from a possible dozen but did stumble to a 3-0 defeat at Cappielow last time against a resurgent Morton. Defeat to the Ton in Greenock is no disaster, as Dougie Imrie has his side flying up the table again. Ayr can and will bounce back to winning ways at the first time of asking.
When betting on Scottish football, especially at this time of year and outside of the Premiership, you must take travel and conditions into consideration. Inverness journey to Somerset Park from the highlands and must be switched on from the first whistle following that marathon coach tour of Scotland. Caley is on a long winless run and collected just two points from the last 15 available.
Leg 3 - Falkirk to beat Queen of the South @ 2/9
We wrap things up by dropping a level and taking in the game of the day from the Scottish League One as Falkirk entertains Queen of the South. The home team starts on top of the pile following four League One wins on the spin. They look likely to build on an impressive festive period and catapult themselves back to the Championship, where fans feel the team belongs.
Easier said than done, of course, especially at this level, but the Bairns have done nothing to suggest their good form is about to dip. Back Falkirk to make it five wins on the bounce to boost your weekend multiples.
Queen of the South, like their hosts, have experience competing at a higher level, but a weak defence has cost them dear. The visitors arrive having lost more than half of their games so far, conceding 32 goals, which is more than eight of the ten teams in the league. They do arrive on a decent run but will find Falkirk too good. The hosts won 1-0 when QOS was last in town, and we predict something similar here.
