Gibraltar head to San Marino in the Nations League on Friday night (19:45), knowing that a win would guarantee them top spot in League D Group 1. That would secure them promotion up to League C, while the hosts know that a win would give them a brilliant chance of finishing top of this three-team group.

Gibraltar won the reverse fixture 1-0 last month, but that came after San Mario had won their very first competitive match in their history against Liechtenstein. So can the world’s lowest-ranked nation find another win? Below you will find my San Marino vs Gibraltar predictions featuring team news and betting tips.

San Marino vs Gibraltar Betting Tips

  • Under 1.5 goals @ 6/5
  • San Marino 0-0 Gibraltar @ 5/1

Team News

San Marino captain Matteo Vitaioli will lead his side once again at the age of 35, while they have also named two unattached players in their squad in the form of goalkeeper Edoardo Colombo and young defender Filippo Fabbri. Vitaoli is closing in on his 100th cap which will mark an outstanding achievement while the entirety of this current squad plays their football in either San Marino or Italy.

Nicola Nanni plays his football in Serie C and could be put in from the start as manager Roberto Cevoli looks to put together a truly memorable Nations League campaign. Winger Filippo Berardi is the current top scorer in this squad, with three international goals to his name.

Football Odds

Julio Cesar Ribas is the Uruguayan in charge of Gibraltar since 2018 after he had huge success with the Lincoln Red Imps. His former side contribute six players to the current squad, including 43-year-old Lee Casciaro, who made his club debut back in 1998!

His clubmate Tjay Le Barr is arguably the biggest goal threat, while two teenagers in England are also trying to get more minutes for their national side. Liam Jessop is currently turning out for Chesterfield, while Jaiden Bartolo has made six appearances for his country and currently plays for Woking.

We must also talk about Manchester United youngster James Scanlon, a midfielder who is just 18 but has already become Gibraltar’s youngest-ever goalscorer. He will surely start in this one as he looks to add to his goal tally. Dan Bent is suspended after his red card vs Liechtenstein.

San Marino vs Gibraltar Odds

San Marino are priced at 23/10 to win this game, with Gibraltar available at 13/10. That gives the away side an implied win probability of 43%. A draw can be backed at 15/8, over 2.5 goals is 2/1 and BTTS is 5/4. Tjay De Barr is the favourite to open the scoring at 6/1.

Under 1.5 goals @ 6/5

These two are not known for their goalscoring prowess so it makes perfect sense in my opinion to back a low-scoring affair. The reverse fixture finished 1-0 to Gibraltar, while they then drew 0-0 with Liechtenstein. Meanwhile San Marino haven’t scored in their last three outings and there is an obvious lack of quality in the final third.

I think we are getting good odds on there to be under 1.5 goals here, which gives us some wiggle room between two teams who will surely be going all out the win. I’m happy to back this as my first selection.

San Marino 0-0 Gibraltar @ 5/1

Gibraltar haven’t scored an away goal since September 2022 and San Marino haven’t scored in their last three games. I honestly believe this will be a really tight affair as we saw when these two teams met last month, so I think the best value lies in backing a 0-0 stalemate between two of the lowest-ranked teams in world football.

The highest goalscorer in both of these San Marino and Gibraltar squads have just three goals to their name, so I’m happy to plump for a 0-0 on this occasion. It wouldn’t be a bad result for either side.
