Jose Mourinho’s third-season syndrome seems to have struck again at Roma, but at the top of the table things are rather brighter for Inter Milan. They currently lead the way, however, they lost their first game of the season in midweek to allow AC Milan to draw level on points.

Salernitana vs Inter Milan Tips

  • Inter Milan to win and BTTS No at 13/10
  • Correct Score: Salernitana 0-2 Inter Milan at 6/1

Inter Milan to win and BTTS No

On paper, this is a one-sided contest, and that is reflected in Betfred’s outright odds. Inter Milan are just 2/5 to win this match, which simply isn’t backable. Instead, we look elsewhere for more value in a game they should win.

Yes, they lost 2-1 to Sassuolo last time out, but aside from that Simone Inzaghi’s men have been almost flawless. They have a far superior squad on paper and the likes of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez should be able to find the net against the side currently in 17th in Serie A.

The odds are so short for Inter Milan to win, but if we back them to keep a clean sheet with BTTS No – then the odds shoot up to 13/10. Salernitana are not a good side, haven’t won a game so far this season and most importantly for this pick, have scored just four goals in six matches. It gets worse when you look at their recent form, with just one goal in their last four matches.

Correct Score: Salernitana 0-2 Inter Milan at 6/1

Given the home side are so goal shy and in a poor run of form, we can expect Inter Milan to walk away with all three points and a clean sheet to boot. I’ve already explained the stats behind picking Salernitana to fail to score, but how about Inter Milan?

Well, with the attacking firepower on show, many will think they could blow the home side away with a three, four or five goal win. Having scored five past AC Milan and four past Fiorentina at the start of the month, they certainly possess the quality to do so. However, in their last three matches, Inter Milan have scored three goals, one in each fixture.

The goals have dried up somewhat, and when they faced a similar quality of side in Empoli away from home, they only secured a 1-0 win despite domination. For these reasons, a win for Inter Milan is expected, but I’m not predicting them to run riot. However, I also don’t feel comfortable backing them to score just once again, given they are likely to dominate possession.

That leaves the 2-0 correct scoreline at a price of 6/1, which I am more than comfortable in getting behind. It just makes the most sense, on a number of levels. A much needed win, and clean sheet will please Inzaghi and keep the away side top of the table.
