Rotherham are all-but relegated from the Championship, but Plymouth head for the New York Stadium (Friday April 5, 20:00) with their survival prospects hanging by a thread.

Argyle have rolled the dice this week by sacking Ian Foster just in time for the six-game run-in which will decide their fate.

  • Plymouth Argyle & Over 1.5 Goals @ 6/4
  • Corner Handicap -1.0 - Plymouth Argyle @ 19/20

Team News

Millers’ chief Leam Richardson hopes Sean Morrison will recover from a calf problem in time to feature, with fellow centre-backs Tyler Blackett and Grant Hall ruled out.

Charlie Wyke, after scoring his first goal since a loan switch from Wigan, is pushing for a start for the hosts.

For Argyle, Mikel Miller may well come in for Alfie Devine, who is suspended.

 Match Odds

Rotherham won for just the fourth time in the Championship on Easter Monday when they beat Millwall 2-1 and are 5/2 to make it back-to-back victories.

Plymouth’s away record is poor - two wins in 20 - yet they still get a 19/20 quote under caretaker bosses Neil Dewsnip and Kevin Nancekivell. The Draw is 9/4.

Morgan Whittaker, the third-highest scorer in the second tier this season, is 7/2 to net first.

Plymouth Argyle & Over 1.5 Goals @ 6/4

Fed-up fans cursing the style of football Plymouth were playing under Foster were doubtless relieved to see him fired in the week - because they know what to expect from caretakers Dewsnip and Nancekivell.

The Plymouth coaches had four matches in charge pre-Foster around Christmas, a quartet of games that produced three draws, a 2-1 loss at high-flying Southampton and, importantly, 19 goals.

The Green Army loved the period when their side was involved in basketball matches at the start of the season and are craving a return to that after watching the goals, and the entertainment, dry up under Foster.

They should get their wish at Rotherham as the bottom club are doomed to the drop no matter what the mathematicians say.

The Millers savoured a rare win on Monday against Millwall, in a 2-1 victory in which the man of the match was their keeper Viktor Johansson - and not for the first time this term. The Lions racked up 21 shots but took just one and paid the price.

If Dewsnip and Nancekivell let Argyle’s players back off the leash they can show why they are 18 points superior to United, and do so by doing what they used to do best - scoring plenty of goals.

Corner Handicap -1.0 - Plymouth Argyle @ 19/20

With Dewsnip and Nancekivell taking a front-foot approach to survival - and anything less than a win at Rotherham would seem a missed opportunity - expect a barrage of away corners.

They average 5.2 corners per game - a figure which rises to 5.4 when looking at the four previous games the caretaker bosses took charge of - whereas Rotherham are averaging just 3.3.

Even against Millwall, a match the Reds won 2-1, it was the London side who took the corners 11-2.

Take Plymouth to win the corner count by two or more by backing them on the handicap.
