Rotherham United and Ipswich Town meet again on Tuesday night after their initial fixture was postponed due to bad weather.

Now Kieran McKenna’s high-flying Tractor Boys will look to close the gap on league leaders Leicester to just a point, while the Millers need a positive result to avoid being cut adrift in the bottom three. Below we have previewed the match, and come up with a couple of selections.

Rotherham vs Ipswich Tips

  • Conor Chaplin to score anytime @ 13/10
  • Ipswich to win -2 handicap @ 16/5

Team News

Matt Taylor is still without six players through injury, as Grant Hall, Andre Green, Cameron Humphreys, Shane Ferguson, Jamie Lindsay and Tyler Blackett all remain out. The manager could bring Georgie Kelly into the starting XI, after he came off the bench to score an equaliser against QPR.

Marcus Harness could also be in line for a start for Ipswich Town, after he scored twice off the bench to rescue a point against Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City. Nathan Broadhead and Conor Chaplin are in line to start again, and McKenna has no major injuries to deal with heading into this one.

Match Odds

Rotherham United are 11/2 to win this game, while Ipswich Town are the strong favourites at 4/9. A draw can be backed at 18/5 while over 2.5 goals is 8/13. BTTS is priced at 4/5

Conor Chaplin to score anytime @ 13/10

Conor Chaplin has scored five goals already so far this season, and although Ipswich have shared goals around, he remains a key threat. Marcus Harness is likely to come into the team to shake up the attacking quartet, but Chaplin’s place in the team is secure.

The forward has actually gone several games without scoring, but against Rotherham, he is likely to have multiple attempts on goal. I’m expecting Ipswich to dominate this match from start to finish, and the odds on them to win the game suggest the same. If we can pick out a correct scorer then we can boost our odds and Chaplin is the man who can find the net for the away side here.

Ipswich to win -2 handicap @ 16/5

As mentioned, Ipswich are one of the three finest teams in the league this season, and they are facing one of the poorest. The Tractor Boys have remarkably won 11 of their 14 league matches since being promoted from League One and now sit in second, just four points behind Leicester City.

They are taking on a Rotherham side who have won two games all season, and in their last two fixtures have lost to Sheffield Wednesday and drawn with QPR - the only two teams below them in the table.

Now up against a much stronger outfit, they are going to find life incredibly tough. I’m expecting a big away win here, by three or four goals, so the 16/5 available on Ipswich to win with a -2 handicap is the way to go here.
