Atalanta have been excellent in Serie A so far this season with nine wins from their opening 13 matches. They are on an impressive winning streak of seven matches which they will look to extend when they travel to face Roma on Monday (19:45).

The home side have lost three games in a row in the league but they played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League in midweek. Read on for my Roma vs Atalanta prediction, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Roma vs Atalanta Betting Tips

  • Atalanta to win @ 5/4
  • Mateo Retegui anytime goalscorer @ 8/5

Roma vs Atalanta Odds

Roma are 21/10 to win this encounter, giving them an implied probability of 32.3%. Atalanta are valued at 5/4 to take the three points and extend their winning run, which gives them a theoretical chance of 44.4%. The draw is available at 5/2 (28.6%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 8/13 and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 4/5.

Atalanta's Mateo Retegui has 12 goals in Serie A so far, and he is 9/2 to open the scoring on Monday. His teammate Ademola Lookman has scored seven himself, and he is marketed at 9/5 to score anytime in this clash.

Team News

Roma boss Claudio Ranieri is going to be without the services of Mario Hermoso and Eldor Shomurodov due to injury for this match, but Alexis Saelemaekers is back in the picture after two months out, having appeared from the bench against Spurs last time out.

Niccolo Pisilli is suspended as a result of accumulating five bookings this term, which increases the chances of captain Lorenzo Pellegrini returning to the starting lineup on Monday.

Paulo Dybala and Stephan El Shaarawy should aid Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk at the top end of the pitch, although Saelemaekers, Tommaso Baldanzi and Matias Soule will be looking for an opportunity to impress the new boss, should he opt to make any changes.

For Atalanta, boss Gian Piero Gasperini must serve a suspension after his latest outburst against Parma.

On the playing staff, the visitors are still missing Rome-born Gianluca Scamacca and ex-Roma wing-back Davide Zappacosta, but Nicolo Zaniolo could play a part against his former employers.

Giorgio Scalvini, who appeared to make a rapid recovery from an ACL injury, is set to feature on Atalanta's bench for this one.

Top scorer Retegui - who also leads the Capocannoniere rankings - is the first player in La Dea's history to reach 12 goals at this stage of a Serie A campaign. He is set to be aided in attack by Charles De Ketelaere and Lookman, with the latter looking to bag his first goal against Roma.

Atalanta to win @ 5/4

Ranieri is back for his third stint in charge of Roma and he will be hoping that his personal connection to the club can help turn their fortunes around this season. I think it will take some time for him to have an impact given how slowly his team have started the campaign, and I just can't see them having any joy against Atalanta on Monday night.

The hosts have lost three in the bounce in the league, which will have heavily impacted the mood in the dressing room. On the opposite of that, Atalanta have won their last seven league outings, and are currently the most in-form side in the division.

Italy currently boasts the most exciting title race with a point separating first and fifth (at the time of writing). Atalanta are doing their part in providing excitement and certainly entertainment, with a whopping 34 goals already in their opening 13 matches.

In their brilliant winning run, 24 goals have been scored so the attackers are on fire heading into this fixture, particularly the front three, who have been outstanding in the first few months of the season.

This is a side that are miles ahead of where Roma are at the moment and I am expecting this to be evident when the two teams take to the pitch on Monday. Ranieri will try and nullify Atalanta's threat but I do think that they will be just too good for the home side and still manage to add a few more goals to their impressive tally.

I'm going for the visitors to win this one, taking their winning run up to eight matches.

Mate0 Retegui anytime goalscorer @ 8/5

This man has been exceptional so far with 12 goals in the opening 13 matches of the season.  Retegui is averaging 1.3 goals per 90 and his minutes per goal is currently at 69 minutes - ridiculous.

He is certainly playing his part in Atalanta's title charge and I don't think his impressive performances are going to come to an end any time soon. The striker has two goals in his last three appearances, including one against current leaders Napoli, so he won't be fazed coming up against an out-of-form Roma side at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday.

Retegui has a real shot at finishing the campaign as the top goalscorer, and he has the chance to couple it up with a league crown, which would be truly amazing for everyone associated with Atalanta.

It's still early days, but for now at least we know he guarantees goals. I have him to score again in this one.
