A place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia is up for grabs when Italian giants Roma host Cremonese, the last remaining side from outside of the Italian top-flight, on Wednesday night.

Roma, who have lifted the trophy nine times in their history and who are currently seventh in Serie A, are favourites to progress to the next round and should have enough star power to see off their second tier opponents.

Roma vs Cremonese Prediction

  • Roma to win and Both Teams to Score (90 mins) @ 11/5
  • Over 2.5 goals (90 mins) @ 8/11

Team News

The Giallorossi have no fresh injury concerns, with English pair Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling both likely to be absent, along with Houssem Aouar.

The cup tie is also likely to come too soon for Albanian defender Marash Kumbulla, who is almost back to fitness after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in April of last year.

Cremonese also have no new faces joining the treatment room, with the long-term absentees of Mouhamadou Sarr, Frank Tsadjout and Cristian Buonaiuto unable to play due to injuries.

Match Odds

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are big favourites to win this Round of 16 cup tie at 1/3, whilst Cremonese are 7/1 to get close to emulating their semi-final run of last season.

A draw can be backed at 10/3, meanwhile Roma’s Romelu Lukaku is 3/1 to bag the first goal of the game.

Roma to win and Both Teams to Score (90 mins) @ 11/5

Roma are 18 places above Wednesday’s opponents in the Italian footballing pyramid and have lost just once at the Stadio Olimpico in all competitions this season.

The last time Roma failed to convert an opportunity at home was back in May against eventual Scudetto winners Inter Milan, but have at times looked defensively shaky with just one clean sheet in their last four home games against domestic opposition.

The side from the capital have the better head-to-head record over La Cremo, with four wins from seven meetings.

Cremonese have seen off Crotone and Cittadella in the cup this season, so this will be the first time that La Cremo face off against higher-level opposition.

However, they will be buoyed by recent history given that Cremonese were victorious at Roma in the quarter finals of this competition last season.

Over 2.5 goals (90 mins) @ 8/11

Roma are blessed with star firepower, with Paolo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku registering 19 goal contributions between them.

Cremonese, meanwhile, have the second-best goal difference in Serie B, and the 28 goals converted by the north Italian club ranks fourth in the entire division.

La Cremo will likely look towards top scorer Massimo Coda, who has netted nine times in the league, for an attacking spark on Wednesday, whilst no player has registered more assists in Serie B than Franco Vazquez.

Goals should therefore be expected in this contest, with seven of the last eight matches featuring Roma seeing at least two goals and each of Cremonese’s last two games featuring a minimum of four.
