River Plate to win
Comparing different leagues is hard enough - comparing different leagues from different continents is harder still.
But given what we know about the state of Argentine and Japanese international football, you have to think River Plate are going to have a sizeable edge over their J-League opponents.
River Plate Club World Cup Preview
The Buenos Aires giants have twice played Japanese teams in the Club World Cup and won both, beating Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0 on their way to the 2015 final on debut and three years later thumped Kashima Antlers 4-0.
Urawa Red Diamonds are actually making their fourth appearance in this tournament, reaching the semis last time out two years ago.
The Reds aren't, however, in the best of form, having won only two of their last seven league games. River Plate are unbeaten in 18 (excluding penalty shootouts) and can nail this.
Sebastian Driussi Total Shots 3+
He's the kid everyone wants to see and has lit up the tournament before it has even started.
Franco Mastantuono is 17, prodigiously gifted, and on his way to Real Madrid on an eye-watering seven-year deal.
The teenager has broken any number of age-group records, and comparisons with Lionel Messi abound, inevitably.
Mastantuono should shine, though he's not the coolest finisher in the River Plate ranks - that accolade is bestowed upon Sebastian Driussi.
Driussi has found the net in six of his last nine appearances for his club side, and he will test out Shusaku Nishikawa in the Urawa goal. Take the central striker to fire off at least three shots.
River Plate vs Urawa Reds Bet Builder Stats
- River Plate are unbeaten in their last 18 matches (excluding penalty shootouts)
- Urawa Reds have only won two of their last seven league games
Over 6.5 Home Corners
River Plate's last fixture was a Copa Libertadores group-stage affair at home to Peruvians, Universitario.
The match, on May 28, ended 1-1 as River Plate ended their group campaign unbeaten to cruise into the last 16.
Universitario are a decent side, but River Plate, at home, naturally dominated proceedings if not the scoreline.
Marcelo Gallardo's men won seven corners against Universitario and really should win at least that many in a dominant performance against Urawa.
Urawa Reds Club World Cup Preview
Samuel Gustafson Total Tackles 2+
The Japanese side know the pressure from the Argentine superpowers is going to be intense, and defensively they are going to have to be on their game.
Their Polish head coach Maciej Skorza will need concentration and discipline from his back four and decent protection from midfield pivot Samuel Gustafson.
The Swede's role in stopping the supply line to the likes of Mastantuono and Driussi will be important, and he should pile up the tackles. Two will do to hopefully complete a Bet Builder, which works out at 7/2.
