Player Shown Any Card - Aurelien Tchouameni (RMA)

We kick this Bet Builder off with a card, of any colour, for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who was forced to drop back into a centre-back role after seven minutes against Pachuca following Raul Asencio's red card.

Asencio is now suspended for Los Blancos' final Group H game, and it remains to be seen whether Xabi Alonso starts Antonio Rudiger, who only made his comeback from nearly two months out injured as a late substitute against Pachuca, alongside summer signing Dean Huijsen, or asks Tchouameni to deputise in the back line again.

Either way, I think Tchouameni, at 4/1, is a nice price for a card on Friday.

Today's Football Fixtures

The 25-year-old is yet to commit a single foul at this year's Club World Cup, but if he begins in midfield against Salzburg, he could be up against Mads Bidstrup and Soumaila Diabate, both of whom are proficient at winning fouls.

Bidstrip was fouled, on average, 1.4 times per game in the 2024/25 Austrian Bundesliga, and was taken down on three occasions in his side's 2-1 victory over Pachuca last Wednesday.

Diabate, meanwhile, was fouled 1.7 times per game, on average, in the top tier of Austrian football for loan side Blau Weiss Linz, and was upended after just eight minutes by Al Hilal midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic last Sunday before being withdrawn at half-time following his yellow card in the 37th minute.

Should Tchouameni start at centre-back instead, he may be forced to take alternative action in the way Asencio and Huijsen have done, with the young defenders committing two fouls apiece against Pachuca last time out.

Tchouameni has been cautioned 13 times and shown one red for club and country this season, picking up three yellow cards in his last six club appearances prior to this competition, and I can see the France international making a tactical foul or two on Friday that could see him scribbled into the referee's notebook.

Federico Valverde (RMA) Total Shots on Target - 1+

Real Madrid's all-action midfielder Federico Valverde dusted himself down after the disappointment of missing a late penalty against Al Hilal to score his side's third and final goal against Pachuca in their second group game.

The 26-year-old has now registered three shots on target at this tournament, after two of his four efforts against Al Hilal were saved by Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine 'Bono' Bounou.

Red Bull Salzburg vs Real Madrid Odds

Valverde averaged 0.6 shots on target per game in this season's La Liga, scoring six goals, and he should be confident of at least forcing a save from Salzburg's teenage shot-stopper, Christian Zawieschitzky, on Friday.

Die Roten Bullen have only conceded one goal after two games, but Zawieschitzky was forced to make five saves against Pachuca, and four against Al Hilal, so he has been kept busy, and Valverde is someone who can strike with accuracy from distance, so the Uruguayan is always a solid bet in the shots on target market.

Salzburg vs Real Madrid Bet Builder Stats

  • Aurelien Tchouameni (RMA) has received 13 yellows and one red for club and country in 2024/25
  • Federico Valverde (RMA) has registered three shots on target at 2025 CWC
  • Nene Dorgeles (RBS) has shot six times at the tournament (three apiece vs Pachuca and Al Hilal)
  • Mads Bidstrup (RBS) shot twice in January H2H (scored with second effort)

Nene Dorgeles (RBS) Total Shots - 2+

Salzburg winger Nene was his side's top goalscorer in the 2024/25 Austrian Bundesliga, netting 13 times in 30 appearances, just one strike behind Golden Boot winner Ronivaldo (BW Linz).

The 22-year-old has started both of Salzburg's games at the Club World Cup, completing the first against Pachuca before being substituted in the 77th minute against Al Hilal.

Nene recorded three shots in each match, failing to hit the target with any of his three against the Mexicans before forcing a hat-trick of saves from Bono in the Saudi side's net.

Football Odds

The Mali international averaged 2.3 shots per game in the league this season for Salzburg, and one per game in the Uefa Champions League, where he faced Real Madrid in January. He only played the first 63 minutes of that 5-1 defeat, but five minutes before his withdrawal, he sprang Thibaut Courtois into action with a left-footed effort from outside the penalty area.

Nene might find it tough to replicate his three-shot totals against Pachuca and Al Hilal, but this is a Real Madrid outfit that let up 25 attempts to the former on Sunday, albeit they were a man down after seven minutes, while the latter recorded nine shots in their Group H opener.

Three of Al Hilal's starting front four, Marcos Leonardo, Salem Al-Dawsari and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, shot 2+ times against Los Blancos, while two of Pachuca's front four, Salomon Rondon and Kenedy, managed four and three efforts, respectively. John Kennedy also came off the bench at the start of the second half and fired five shots the way of their goal.

Mads Bidstrup (RBS) Total Shots - 1+

I'm also squeezing in a shot for Salzburg's Bidstrup, who has played every minute of his side's Club World Cup campaign so far and is very rarely substituted.

The 24-year-old averaged a shot every other game in the 2024/25 Austria Bundesliga, and 0.8 per game in the Champions League. Half (two) of his efforts in the latter competition came against Real Madrid, with his second finding a way past Courtois to claim a consolation goal for Die Roten Bullen.

Bidstrup, who spent three years on the books of Brentford, failed to take a shot in Salzburg's opening Club World Cup match against Pachuca, but did force a save from Bono on Sunday.

Salzburg could be looking for a goal on Friday, and Bidstrup's willingness to strike from distance could come in handy if his side fails to create any meaningful chances in the 18-yard box.
