Champions league ball scaled

We’ve got a gargantuan game coming our way on Wednesday evening as 14-time European champions Real Madrid host Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu (20:00, TNT Sports 1). Man City head into this game with work to do after they lost the first leg 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

The late collapse on home soil saw them concede two goals in injury time to hand the initiative to Los Blancos ahead of the second leg. Below you can find my Real Madrid vs Manchester City Bet Builder tips as we search for value in this epic clash.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Bet Builder Tips

  • Erling Haaland to score
  • Kylian Mbappe to score
  • Jude Bellingham to score
  • Over 8.5 corners

Bet Builder pays 13/2

Erling Haaland to score

I’m going to play things very safe with this Bet Builder, with every selection likely to be a short price on its own. But combined, they give us a healthy price of 13/2 that I’m willing to attack. I toyed with the idea of backing Real Madrid to win this game, but I have decided against that as I just feel there is too much variation at play given they do not need to win to progress through the tie.

With a one-goal advantage, they may choose to sit on a draw heading into the last 10 minutes, and that’s not something I want to risk here. However, I will back Erling Haaland to score. A lot was made of his failure to score past Real Madrid heading into the first leg, but he silenced those critics with a brace on home soil. He remains one of the finest strikers in world football and he will be wearing the Manchester City colours for a long time to come having signed that long-term new deal.

Real Madrid would love to have him in their own set-up, but I'm backing him to score again past what is likely to be a makeshift back four. Aurelien Tchouameni started at centre-back at the Etihad with Federico Valverde at right-back, and although Antonio Rudiger could return, I think the out-of-position midfielders could be targeted by Haaland once again if they play. He can find the net either way.

Kylian Mbappe to score

He was getting a lot of heat for his performances earlier in the season, but the fact of the matter is that Kylian Mbappe has now scored 24 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions in 2024/25. That’s not a bad return for the Frenchman who is seemingly getting better and better as the season progresses.

As you can tell, I am expecting a lot of goals and entertainment in this one, and I do not trust City’s defence to be able to cope with Real Madrid’s firepower - especially when you consider Pep Guardiola’s men have to chase this game. Mbappe could take full advantage on the break having scored with an unconvincing finish in leg one, and if City dare to play a high line, they could be in big trouble.

Jude Bellingham to score

It’s Jude Bellingham. He always scores. The big man for the big occasion, especially in games like this. He tapped in the winner at the Etihad and is likely to come up with the goods again in the Spanish capital. From a numbers perspective, he has scored 11 goals in 33 and is playing deeper in midfield following the arrival of Mbappe, but that’s still a good return from the Englishman. He will have a big say on this tie.

Over 8.5 corners

There were 11 corners in total in the first leg (six v five), and Manchester City’s matches average 10.64 corners per game in the Premier League - so we are playing it very safe with this selection. Both teams will be on the attack, and with the likes of Vinicius Jr., Mbappe and Jack Grealish on the pitch, we should see plenty of action on the wings.

This one brings our Bet Builder to 13/2 as we target goals and corners for profit. It doesn’t matter who wins, and that should work in our favour.
