Real Betis vs Sevilla Prediction: Betis can prevail in feisty derby

The first Seville derby provided a shock as Dodi Lukebakio’s penalty secured a 1-0 win for Sevilla, but it would be no surprise to see Real Betis exact their revenge on Sunday.
Betis have improved massively since that defeat and are one of La Liga’s most in-form sides. Sevilla have also been in decent form but they are still sat 10th and eight points behind their sixth-placed rivals, suggesting the points will be staying at the Villamarin this weekend. Read on for my Real Betis vs Sevilla prediction.

Team News
Former Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is one of a few crocked stars for Betis, with Marc Roca and Johnny Cardoso also sidelined.
Sevilla’s injury list is shorter, with only Tanguy Nianzou sidelined, but they will also be without two midfielders, suspended duo Lucien Agoume and Djibril Sow.
Real Betis vs Sevilla Stats
- Real Betis have taken maximum points in their last five games
- The visitors have lost only two of their last eight games with four of those ending in a draw
Real Betis are worthy 5/6 favourites for this derby, while those fancying a shock can back Sevilla at 16/5 or the draw at 13/5.
Over 2.5 goals has been priced at 1/1, while both teams to score is a similar price at 10/11.
Betis hotshot Cucho Hernandez is the 9/2 favourite to open the scoring, with Sevilla’s hero from the reverse fixture, Lukabakio, their shortest first goalscorer option at 13/2.
Real Betis to win @ 5/6
Ahead of this round of fixtures, only two teams in La Liga had taken the maximum points tally of 15 in their last five games, leaders Barcelona and in-form Real Betis.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are flying - also knocking a solid Vitoria Guimaraes out of the Conference League this month - and they should have far too much for their city rivals Sevilla.
The visitors have lost only two of their last eight games but while they can be tough to beat, they also struggle to get over the line, with four of those matches finishing level.
Their case is hampered further by the suspensions to Sow and Agoume, meaning Garcia Pimienta will be without two of his usual three-man midfield.
Betis are still in with a slight shout of finishing in the top four and they are unlikely to lose any ground in that race when their derby rivals visit on Sunday.
Bet Builder: Isco anytime goalscorer, Saul Niguez to be booked, over 79.5 booking points @ 7/1
Betis’ impressive form has been spearheaded by their star man, Isco.
The creative genius has netted five goals and provided three assists in his last six appearances in all competitions and he rates the standout anytime-scorer bet in Sunday’s derby, which could be feisty.
The last two Seville derbies have seen at least eight cards brandished, so it could pay to add over 79.5 booking points (each yellow is worth 10 points) to your bet builder.
A prime candidate for one of those many yellows has to be Saul Niguez, who has picked up six bookings in just 16 La Liga games this term, so back him to fall foul of the referee to round out the betslip.
