Rangers eliminated Panathinaikos in the second qualifying round last month, beating the Greeks 3-1 on aggregate, thanks to a 2-0 win here in the opening leg. They then turned their attentions to Viktoria Plzen, flooring the Czech First League team 4-2, despite losing the second leg 2-1 on the road.

Club Brugge journey from Sint-Andries, eager to secure a return to the Champions League. Blue-Black know their best chance of progressing to the league phase comes from securing a solid win in Glasgow, but Nicky Hayden’s men know that’s no mean feat. The world-famous and much-loved Champions League anthem returns to Ibrox on Tuesday evening, and the famous Glasgow sporting venue will be packed to capacity.

The majority of those filling the stands hope to see another special night under the bright lights, with Gers securing a vital first leg lead. Rangers vs Club Brugge will live up to the hype, with both sets of players treating fans to an early-season classic and a few goals.

Both teams scored in the only two previous games involving these teams, but that was back in the early 1990s, so we won’t read too much into those results. Instead, we focus on the recent form. A bet on both teams to score would’ve landed you a healthy profit in each of the hosts’ last three starts in all competitions.

They drew 1-1 with Dundee, lost 2-1 at Plzen and beat Alloa Athletic 4-2 here on Saturday evening. Both scored when Brugge beat Salzburg 3-2 in this tournament, in a 2-1 win over Genk and a 2-1 defeat to Mechelen.

Moving to a bet at higher odds, and I expect a competitive and well-matched playoff to produce a draw. A level finish in Glasgow would suit the visitors more than their hosts, but would set up an all-or-nothing shoot-out in Brugge next Wednesday.

Rangers fans wouldn’t be disappointed with that outcome either, knowing their favourites have delivered some memorable wins on the road in Europe.

A much-changed Rangers beat lower league Alloa in the League Cup on Saturday at Ibrox, but conceded two goals and never looked reliable in defence. It’s still early in the season and very early in Martin’s reign at Ibrox.

It shows, with the manager forced to play some of his squad out of position, including at left back. At their best, I’d fancy Rangers to beat Brugge, but the locals haven’t hit top gear in a while. Back the draw at a handy price.
