All but one of the weekend’s Scottish Premiership fixtures are played on Saturday afternoon. The spare comes from Ibrox on Sunday (12:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event), as Rangers host Aberdeen.

Our Scottish football expert Frank Monkhouse offers his Rangers vs Aberdeen predictions, complete with the latest match odds and team news.

Rangers vs Aberdeen Odds

Rangers are often the favourites when playing at home, and that is the case again here ahead of Sunday’s game in Govan. But the locals are winless in their last six games in all competitions, with their most recent victory coming against Dundee at Dens Park late in March.

The Gers went 2-0 down that day before staging an incredible comeback. Will they finally return to winning ways here? You can bet on Rangers at odds of 8/13 with Betfred.

Aberdeen started the weekend in fourth place behind the Old Firm and Hibs. Jimmy Thelin’s team hope to improve a place and beat Hibs to the bronze medal finish, ending the season as best of the rest.

To give themselves the best chance of claiming third, Aberdeen must win each of their three remaining games, starting at Ibrox. They won this fixture 2-1 in October with a late strike from Shayden Morris, and you can bet on the away win at 9/2 or take a chance on another draw at 16/5.

Team News

Rangers boss Barry Ferguson continues to be without Dujon Sterling, who's nursing an Achilles injury sustained during the first-leg of his side's Europa League defeat to Athletic Bilbao earlier in the season.

Also expected to miss out for hosts is Rafael Fernandes, Tom Lawrence, Ridvan Yilmaz, Robin Proppper and Findlay Curtis.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo could return to Ferguson's starting XI after being an unused substitute in the draw with Celtic last weekend.

For Aberdeen, Sivert Heltne Nilsen, Kristers Tobers, Gavin Molloy and Ester Sokler are not likely to feature at the Ibrox.

Both teams to score @ 8/13

My first suggestion for Sunday’s clash is for both teams to find the net at least once during the play.

A leaky and nervy defence has plagued the Gers all season, and the locals have already allowed 38 goals in 35 league games. The current table shows that Aberdeen have conceded 50 goals so far, scoring 46, with Rangers on 71. That sets the scene for another high-scoring game.

Betting on both teams to score would’ve landed you a profit in two of the three matches involving the Gers and Dons this season, including that four-goal draw at Pittodrie last month.

Digging deeper, both scored in five of the previous seven, and that’s enough to catch our eye.

Draw @ 10/3

Our second pick in Govan is a draw.

Rangers are home and hosed in second place, forced to accept another silver medal while fans watch the celebrations going on across the city. Barry Ferguson continues to operate as an interim manager, but few expect him to get the job full-time. With nothing to play for, a weak defence and a confidence crisis, it’s easy to oppose Rangers.

Aberdeen must stay on the heels of Hibs as they battle for third. That means every point available between now and the finish line is important.

The points matter more to Aberdeen than Rangers and with that in mind, I’m picking these teams to cancel each other out. A draw was the correct approach last time, and there has been no more than one goal between the sides in five of the previous six.
