Qarabag vs Lincoln Red Imps Prediction: Comfortable progress for Qarabag

Qarabag hold a 2-0 advantage going into the second leg of their Champions League second round qualifying tie at home to Lincoln Red Imps on Tuesday (17:00). 

The Azerbaijan champions were comfortable victors in Gibraltar last week and shouldn’t have too many issues finishing the job off on home soil.

Despite leading 2-0 from the first leg, Qarabag are likely to field a very similar side to the one that won in Gibraltar as they look to make sure of their place in the next qualifying round. 

Brazilian Juninho, who scored the opener last week, should again start up front centrally, while Toral Bayramov, who added the second goal, will line up at the back. 

If boss Gurban Gurbanov does opt to make changes then the likes of Hamidou Keyta and Patrick Andrade, who were both introduced as subs late last week, could be in contention to start. 

Defender Dan Bent, who was sent off in the second leg of Lincoln's first qualifying round tie against Hamrun Spartans, remains suspended for the visitors. 

Forwards Kike Gomez and Victor Villacanas Morales are pushing to start for Lincoln Red Imps after they both came on midway through the second half in the home game.

Qarabag are overwhelming favourites at 1/12 to win the second leg, the draw is 8/1, while a shock Lincoln Red Imps victory is available at 18/1.

Qarabag were much the better side in the first leg as they dominated proceedings, managing 13 goal attempts compared to just three from Lincoln, while the Azerbaijan outfit had seven corners and the Red Imps had only two. 

Those stats underline the difference between the two teams, although Qarabag had to wait until first-half stoppage time to go in front at the Europa Point Stadium and they may need to be patient again on Tuesday. 

The hosts will likely dominate possession and dictate the second leg, but they will attempt to manage the game as they know they have the luxury of a two-goal cushion.  

Qarabag's greater quality and squad depth should eventually tell but they may not extend their advantage in the tie until the second half when Lincoln Red Imps begin to tire.

Another 2-0 victory in the second leg would mean a very comfortable 4-0 aggregate success for Qarabag and ease them into the third qualifying round of Europe's premier club competition. 

Qarabag have made it to the group stage of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League in each of the last 10 seasons and this year will be eyeing continued progress in the Champions League by wrapping up this second qualifying round tie at home with another ultimately comfortable win. 

Lincoln Red Imps are very limited in terms of being able to pose an attacking threat and they do not look good enough to score on the night to make it interesting. 

Instead, Qarabag should take control the longer the second leg goes on and a repeat scoreline of 2-0 makes punting appeal.
