Paris Saint-Germain entertain Atletico Madrid at Parc des Princes in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday (20:00, TNT Sports 5), looking to get back to winning ways in Europe. Les Parisiens won their opening match but have failed to win since, so they will need to turn that around if they wish to finish in the top eight.

Atleti have won just once themselves but have lost their last two outings, so they too will be looking to change their fortunes on Wednesday night. Read on for my PSG vs Atletico Madrid prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.

Team News

PSG boss Luis Enrique made a big call at the weekend against Lens in Ligue 1 as he dropped number one goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for Matvei Sofonov, so the latter could be in line to keep his place for this crunch European encounter on Wednesday.

The manager also restored Marco Asensio to the lineup, bringing an end the experiment of Ousmane Dembele as a false nine, so the Frenchman should occupy the right flank against Atletico, with Bradley Barcola on the left.

Portugal international Goncalo Ramos remains out with an ankle injury, while Presnel Kimpembe and Atletico Madrid academy graduate Lucas Hernandez are also in the medical bay.

For Atletico, Diego Simeone could name his son Giuliano in the attack once more, but the likes of Angel Correa, Antoine Griezmann, Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth will all be competing to feature in attack for the Spanish outfit.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Robin Le Normand and Marcos Llorente are ruled out of this one due to injury, while Thomas Lemar is a doubt to feature in the French capital. Pablo Barrios returned to the team at the weekend after a recent muscle strain, so he could be set to start on Wednesday.

We will have a bit of a contrast on display at Parc des Princes on Wednesday as PSG's youthful team goes up against the vastly experienced Atleti side. There are many occasions where I would say experience will trump youth but this is not one of those times.

I fancy PSG to win this game because they have a lot of talented players in attacking areas, and the team has an abundance of energy thanks to the amount of young stars they have.

Simeone's Atleti has some ageing generals who it seems like their best years are behind them, and so they look to be a declining force. They were well beaten by Benfica on their away trip in the Champions League, losing 4-0, and they will find this contest just as difficult in my opinion.

Atleti have won just three away games in all competitions this season so far, and they don't look to be as strong as they are when they are playing at home. After two defeats in a row in Europe, this is where they need a statement victory but I don't see it coming.

PSG's attackers have the quality to hurt them on Wednesday and I think it could end up being a tough evening for Simeone's men. PSG have scored 29 goals in Ligue 1 while they only have two in Europe thus far.

They know they need to translate their attacking powers onto this stage and it feels like this could be the game in which we see that. I'm still not convinced on their defence as they have managed just one clean sheet in the Champions League this term, and while Atleti are struggling, they still have good attacking players of their own who are more than capable of grabbing a consolation goal.

Bradley Barcola anytime goalscorer @ 13/8

This man has been on fire for PSG in front of goal this season with eight to his name already in Ligue 1, making him the division's leading marksman. The 22-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in France right now and it looks like his game is reaching another level this season.

Both he and his team have been outstanding going forward domestically, but they are in need of improvement on the Champions League stage. Barcola is still waiting to get up and running in Europe this season, and he will be eager to better his tally of one goal from last season.

I think this feels like the perfect game for him to open his account for the year. He's full of confidence, he's playing at home in front of a packed out crowd, and then of course he's up against an Atletico Madrid side who have been struggling in Europe.

Barcola will look to torment Atleti full-back Nahuel Molina on Wednesday and I fancy him to get the better of the Argentine. This will present him with a few openings at goal and with his quality, I'm confident he can convert at least one of them.
