West Ham vs Brentford Prediction: Bees can sting Hammers

West Ham United go hunting for their first home points of the season when they host Brentford on Monday (20:00 BST, Sky Sports Main Event), but Nuno Espirito Santo may have to wait to pick up his first win with the Hammers.

The Bees, under the guidance of first-time boss Keith Andrews, have picked up some impressive results despite the loss of some key figures in the summer, and they head to the London Stadium hoping to move further clear of the relegation zone. Team News

West Ham head into this tie with a clean bill of health, and Tomas Soucek may return to the starting lineup after serving his three-match ban. The Hammers are expected to be spearheaded by Niclas Fullkrug, with Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen supporting him in a 4-2-3-1 setup.

Brentford’s Antoni Milambo could be out for the remainder of the season after picking up a serious knee injury during the international break, joining Paris Maghoma and Gustavo Nunes on the sidelines. Reiss Nelson is getting close to a return, though, and could make his debut on Monday.

West Ham vs Brentford Odds

Home advantage gives West Ham the slight edge against Brentford, with the hosts priced at 8/5 and the visiting Bees at 15/8, while a stalemate is on offer at 23/10.

With both sides struggling at the back, both teams to score is priced at 8/11, with both over and under 2.5 goals sitting at 10/11.

Brentford to win @ 15/8

Nuno guided West Ham to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in his first match in charge last month, but that was followed by a fifth defeat of the campaign against London rivals Arsenal.

The Hammers, who have lost all three Premier League home games this season, sit second from bottom in the top-flight standings, and they need a win to stand any chance of escaping the drop zone this week.

With their only win of the season coming against struggling Nottingham Forest, three points may be hard to come by when they face a Brentford side that has picked up some positive results under Andrews.

The Bees have beaten Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Manchester United in competitive football this season and won 1-0 when these sides last met at the London Stadium in February, so they look good value to upset the odds.

Igor Thiago (BRE) to score anytime @ 9/5

After Bryan Mbeumo’s summer departure, Brentford were in need of a main goalscorer this season, and Igor Thiago’s promotion to first-team regular has paid off.

The Brazilian has scored four goals in seven Premier League appearances so far, and he should get a few opportunities to add to his tally against one of the league’s worst defences.
