Tottenham vs Manchester City Prediction: Citizens to add to Frank’s pressure

Both Tottenham and Manchester City managed to avoid the Champions League knockout phase playoff round thanks to wins in midweek. Both Tottenham and Manchester City need three Premier League points added to their bank accounts on Sunday – albeit the reasoning for their desired success are far removed from each other.
Nothing like the mental gymnastics of two seasons ago when Spurs fans had to weigh up whether it was worth helping City win the title or not. Now, Sunday’s visitors just need to take care of their own affairs. A win will only add more pressure on Arsenal’s shoulders. A defeat for the hosts and it will put more pressure on Thomas Frank’s.

Team News
Although Tottenham are inconsistent when it comes to their form, there has been one constant for manager Thomas Frank to deal with throughout the season. Unfortunately for the Dane, absence due to injury can be considered as the only linear pattern running throughoutN17 at present.
No Micky van de Ven in midweek as the Dutchman was unavailable for the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt. A paucity of midfield options as the physio room may have to apply for an extension if any other player from that position takes ill. At least Conor Gallagher is available after being cup tied on Wednesday night.
As for Manchester City, their two new signings are expected to keep their place after performing well against Wolves last Saturday. The 2-0 win over the league’s basement side saw Antonie Semenyo score the second goal for the Etihad outfit, with fellow new arrival Marc Guehi playing a pivotal role in keeping a clean sheet.
Semenyo keeping his place as part of the attacking cohort, the other scorer Omar Marmoush likely to step down from the starting eleven after Erling Haaland found himself back amongst the goals in midweek. His goal against Galatasaray indicating that the Norwegian may just have woken from his slumber at just the right stage of the season.

Manchester City and BTTS @ 21/10
If you look at the statistics above, all signs point to this encounter being a rather tight affairbetween Tottenham and Manchester City. Then again, sometimes you have to go against the grain and convince yourself that this is the game when the numerical runs come to an end. Good news if you like entertainment, bad news if you support Spurs.
The North London outfit can lay claim to being City’s bogey team but even that claim fails to hold weight when you consider how bad they have been domestically in recent weeks. No win in their last five, means Pep Guardiola’s men will be smelling blood. That’s not to say the hosts will have it all their own way but they will have all the points come full time.

Cristian Romero to score @ 15/2
If it were not for the central defensive partnership of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, Tottenham’s Premier League woes would be even greater than they are now. Arguably the only shining lights of the campaign so far, excelling just as much in attack then they do marshalling the back four.
While Cristian Romero’s goal at Burnley last Saturday, not saved Spurs from an embarrassing defeat at Turf Moor but it also meant that the Argentine scored his fourth league goal of the season. Four in the league, six overall. Not bad for a man reportedly wanted by Real Madrid, so why not add an extra million to his price tag with what will have to be a consolation against Manchester City.
