Tottenham vs Arsenal Prediction: Tudor era to get off to a positive start

Tottenham supporters will be hoping for a Tudor revolution on Sunday as Igor takes the managerial baton on a temporary basis between now and the end of the season. The remit could not be any simpler for the former Croatian international – keep Spurs in the Premier League.

His remit begins with the small matter of Arsenal’s visit. The Gunners spurned the opportunity to go seven points clear in midweek; how costly could that prove in a couple of months? Some say Mikel Arteta’s men are in a tailspin, some say this fixture is the perfect place to prove a point. What better way to prove it than by winning all three. Team News

Tudor’s first starting XI will almost be selected by default. The former Juventus boss inherited the same injury crisis that predecessor Thomas Frank had to deal with – one that is further exacerbated the suspension of Cristian Romero. That said, a back three can be cobbled together, this team needs time to gel but unfortunately does not have access to that luxury

While the limitations in the starting eleven are not only felt in defence but also further up the field. Wilson Odobert’s injury at home to Newcastle sees the wide player out for approximately six months, compatriot Randal Kolo Muani could take his place but do not be surprised if fellow Frenchman Mathys Tel is given the nod instead.

As for visitors Arsenal, manager Arteta has a number of injury doubts before Sunday’s short trip across the capital. Bukayo Saka limped off in the 2-2 draw at Wolves in midweek, his exit from the game likely to have been precautionary but fitness tests in the run up to the game will prove if this was the case or not.

While teammate Leandro Trossard was also substituted off at Molineux. Coming on as Saka’s replacement in the 73rd minute, he was then switched for Riccardo Calafiori in the 93rd. Not the tactical switch that some observers believed it was, a move made due to a potential concussion. Should this be the case, the Belgian will be stood down until next Sunday’s meeting with Chelsea.

Tottenham Double Chance @ 11/8

If ever there was a bad time for Arsenal to face Tottenham, this weekend must surely be it. Should this game have taken place a fortnight ago, you could only envisage the Gunners strolling to victory on enemy territory but now that same swagger cannot be guaranteed. New manager bounce and all that, we have seen this kind of thing before.

We have seen it only recently with the Manchester derby serving as the blueprint for a perfectly timed switch of manager and this is precisely the inspiration I am looking for before Sunday’s clash in north London. On paper, the visiting Arsenal side are much stronger but we have all seen their wobbles on the road in recent weeks, enough of a wobble to give Tottenham a double chance.

Under 2.5 Goals @ 1/1

Tottenham’s last six Premier League matches have resulted in the north London outfit conceding at least twice. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the same half dozen have also ended with over 2.5 total goals being recorded. Dreadful in defence but at least a modicum of attacking prowess going forward.

That said, all streaks have to come to an end and with defensively-minded Tudor now at the helm, Sunday is the day where this unwanted run comes to a screeching halt. Admittedly the brand of football should not be too different to that of Thomas Frank beforehand but you would imagine more of an overall buy in is there. Therefore, I am buying in a rather tight affair in N17.
