Sunderland vs Wolves Prediction: Black Cats to be lucky again

Sunderland are back in Premier League action after a bright start to their first season back in the top flight. They host bottom club Wolves, who have only picked up two points from the seven outings so far and are the only team not to have won a game this season.
Below you can find my Sunderland vs Wolves Predictions featuring betting tips and more.

Team News
Noah Sadiki returned to Wearside early during the international break having suffered an ankle sprain while on duty with DR Congo, while Omar Alderete also had an issue for Paraguay - but Regis Le Bris had positive news on both ahead of this fixture.
“At the minute, he [Sadiki] seems OK. He had this injury before so he knows how it can evolve and how serious it can be. At the moment he’s positive. We’re hopeful that both Omar and Noah can start, it’s possible.”
The rest of the squad are fit to play with Dan Ballard pushing to get back into the defence, especially if Alderete is left on the bench.
Wolves have been handed a boost over the international break, with defender Toti Gomes returning to training after suffering from flu.
“I’m feeling better right now. The flu got to me and I was not expecting it to happen, but sometimes it can happen.”
Manager Vitor Pereira will be desperate to end this winless run but could name the same team as the one that drew 1-1 with Brighton prior to the international break.
Sunderland vs Wolves Predicted Lineups
- Sunderland - Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Alderete, Masuaku; Rigg, Xhaka, Sadiki; Talbi, Le Fee, Isidor.
- Wolves - Johnstone; Tchatchoua, S Bueno, Krejci, H Bueno; Andre, Gomes; Arias, Muntesi, Hwang; Strand Larsen.
Sunderland are the 6/4 favourites to win this game, while Wolves are 21/10 to find the three points. That gives the home side an implied win probability of 40% while a draw can be backed at 21/10.
Over 2.5 goals is 11/8, BTTS IS 1/1 and Wilson Isidor is the favourite to open the scoring at 5/1.
Sunderland vs Wolves Stats
- Sunderland have picked up seven points from three home games
- Wilson Isidor has scored in all three Stadium of Light appearances in 2025/26
- Wolves are winless in the PL this season, and haven't won away since April 20
Sunderland to win @ 6/4
Sunderland have been fantastic at home so far this season, winning two and drawing one of their three games. It’s going to be their form at the Stadium of Light that keeps them up this season and they’ve already beaten Brentford and West Ham, while they only failed to beat Aston Villa due to a first-half red card.
Wolves have been dreadful this term so far and there’s obvious concerns now that they don’t have the individual ability of Matheus Cunha in their side. Wolves have got one point from three away games and have not won an away game in the top-flight since April 20, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford so Sunderland will fancy their chances of getting another maximum at home.
In their last three meetings, Wolves have failed to score, with two 0-0 draws and the most-recent 3-0 Sunderland victory coming back in 2018. We can’t read too much into that, but I do fancy the home side by a clear margin given the form of both teams.

Scorecast - Wilson Isidor to score first and Sunderland to win 2-0 @ 50/1
Isidor has scored in all three of Sunderland’s home matches this season and is the obvious favourite to score first for the hosts. He’s made the step up look easy and so I’ll back him to find the net first in this Scorecast.
Meanwhile, the Midlands outfit are currently the lowest scorers in the Premier League with five goals alongside Nottingham Forest, their away form is shocking and they haven’t scored against Sunderland since 2011. I can’t see them finding the net here, so backing the hosts to win by two goals to nil feels like the most likely outcome. I like this one at a big price.
