Sunderland vs Bournemouth Prediction: Black Cats to extend home run

Sunderland have enjoyed a fine start to life back in the Premier League, as after eight seasons away, which included four years in League 1, the Black Cats are seventh after beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and holding leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at home.

Regis Le Bris' side now welcome Bournemouth to the Stadium of Light on Saturday (15:00 GMT) with the aim of bouncing back from a 1-0 defeat at Fulham last time out. Read on for my Sunderland vs Bournemouth predictions...

The Wearsiders and the Cherries are tied in the table on 19 points, having each won five and drawn four in 12 matches.

Bournemouth have stalled slightly and have picked up just one point in their last three games after losing at Manchester City and Aston Villa before drawing 2-2 with struggling West Ham at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries' experience at the top level and performances under Andoni Iraola see them as slight favourites, but Sunderland have home advantage and can return to winning ways.

Sunderland are still without Habib Diarra, who is out with a groin injury, while Dennis Cirkin, Leo Hjelde, Romaine Mundle and Aji Alese are all stepping up their recoveries from injury.

Bournemouth are set to welcome back Antoine Semenyo after the key forward missed the draw with West Ham due to illness.

However, Ben Gannon-Doak is unavailable due to a hamstring injury and fellow winger Justin Kluivert remains on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an abductor problem.

Sunderland are priced at 21/10 to win at the Stadium of Light, while Bournemouth are 11/8 to claim only a second away victory of the season. The draw is priced at 23/10.

Both teams finding the net on Saturday is priced at 4/5, while Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor is 5/1 to open the scoring.

Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth’s top scorer this season, is 15/8 to find the net anytime against the Black Cats.

Sunderland have been particularly strong at home this season and are yet to lose at the Stadium of Light on their return to the Premier League.

Drawing with leaders Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa, the Black Cats have beaten West Ham, Brentford and bottom club Wolves.

Bournemouth present a tough challenge and have also taken 19 points from the opening 12 matches, but have won just once on the road this campaign - beating Tottenham 1-0 in North London back in August.

The Black Cats suffered a blip at Fulham, but can get back to winning ways with the positivity and feel-good factor around the Stadium of Light acting as a real catalyst this season.

Sunderland have conceded in four of their six home matches in the Premier League this season and face a Bournemouth side who have found the net in all but one of their away matches this season. 

The Cherries drew a blank against Villa Park, but did find the net at Liverpool and ManCity, while also scoring three against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
