Next Chelsea Manager Odds: Three former players in the running

One hundred and six days. That’s all Liam Rosenior was given in charge of Chelsea Football Club having arrived mid-season, but a five-game losing streak brings an end to his reign. It’s the first time Chelsea have lost as many games in a row without scoring since 1912 - and they’ve not lost five in a row in the Premier League since 1993.

So, who's next? Betfred have priced up the next Chelsea manager odds, and I’ve run through the early contenders. 

Andoni Iraola @ 6/4

The current favourite for the job is Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, which makes a lot of sense given he's already announced he'll be leaving his current club at the end of the season. 

Bournemouth finished 15th under Gary O’Neil before Iraloa was appointed, and he's taken them to the next level. The last two finishes have been 12th and ninth, while this term they sit seventh, with a real opportunity to qualify for a European competition for the first time. 

He’s obviously a talented manager looking for his next opportunity,  but Bournemouth have given him time to build over three seasons and patience clearly isn’t Chelsea’s best quality…

Filipe Luis @ 4/1

Former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea defender Filipe Luis is also in contention for the role, having recently managed Flamengo in Brazil. After working in the youth setup, he was hugely successful with the first team, winning Brazil's Serie A and the Copa Libatadores in 2025 - and the Copa do Brasil in 2024. 

He averaged a trophy every 14 matches with Flamengo - a record that might just keep him in a job at Stamford Bridge - and he was let go in March after an 8-0 win took his side to the Campeonato Carioca final. 

He’s not got much experience, but what we've seen so far has been very promising indeed. 

Next Chelsea Manager Odds

Marco Silva @ 4/1

Well, he won’t have to move house, will he? The Fulham boss has Premier League experience, and has been in charge of the Cottagers since 2021. He won the Championship in his first season in charge, and has since established Fulham as a top-flight club once again. 

A win percentage of 44% over 224 games is strong, but I don’t think mid-table finishes will be enough to make him the next Chelsea boss. 

Cesc Fabregas @ 9/2

Another former player who's making waves at the start of his managerial career. Cesc Fabregas has been in charge of Como since the summer of 2024, and they currently sit fifth in Serie A having finished 10th last term. 

They do have a fair amount of financial backing so this isn’t an underdog story, but clearly Fabregas is a talented boss. He may need a bit more experience before he returns to the Premier League, however. 

Frank Lampard @ 8/1

No. This Coventry fan will not accept Frank Lampard going back to Chelsea. Not happening. With the title-winning Sky Blues now in the Premier League, it would be a sideways move anyway…

Edin Terzic @ 8/1

Edin Terzic is a contender I like the look of. The former Borussia Dortmund boss has been out of work since leaving BVB in 2024, but the 43-year-old was popular and only just missed out on the Bundesliga and Champions League titles.

He had a win percentage of 57%, finished second on goal difference to Bayern Munich in 2023 and lost the 2024 Champions League final to Real Madrid at Wembley, having beaten PSG in the semis. After some time away, it will be interesting to see where he goes next.
