Team News

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will be hoping that Sandro Tonali and Joelinton are fine to continue in midfield after the pair picked up knocks before the international break.

He will be forced into one change as Dan Burn will serve a one-game suspension following his red card at Brentford last time out. Lewis Hall may be ushered back into the left-back spot after being away with England Under-21s.

Tino Livramento remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Anthony Gordon will need to have his hip problem assessed before the weekend. Summer signing Yoane Wissa continues to build up his fitness as the wait to make his Magpies debut goes on.

Premier League Odds

Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Rodri will be declared fit to return to the squad on Saturday following a recent knock, while fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic continues to struggle with an ankle issue.

Top scorer Erling Haaland will lead the line as always having already bagged 14 league goals this term. He is likely to be flanked by Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku, who will both present speed and skill to the hosts' full-backs.

Today's Football Fixtures

Newcastle vs Manchester City Odds

All three of Newcastle's home wins this season have come at St. James' Park and the Magpies are 13/5 to pull off an impressive victory on Saturday.

It was a draw when the two teams met here last season and the stalemate is marketed at 11/4.

Man City have won four of their past five league outings and they are 1/1 (implied probability of 50%) to pick up another three points.

Two of the previous four meetings between the two clubs have produced over 3.5 goals - which is valued at 7/4.

Newcastle vs Manchester City Stats

  • Man City have won two league games on the spin
  • Newcastle have lost back-to-back league matches
  • Erling Haaland (MCI) has five braces in the Premier League this term

Match Result - Manchester City @ 1/1

After comfortably dispatching Liverpool 3-0 last time out, Man City find themselves four points behind Arsenal in the title race, following the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

Guardiola's side already look in much better shape than they did one year ago and they look to be in a good position to reclaim the crown. The Citizens have won four of their last five league fixtures heading to Tyneside and they are facing a Newcastle side who are still figuring things out in the league.

The Magpies are having a ball in the Uefa Champions League but it seems to lead to constant disappointment and fatigue when the weekend rolls around. They may be on a run of five consecutive home wins in all competitions, but I can see the home side struggling against City with the attacking quality they have to offer.

Newcastle did just lose back-to-back away trips at West Ham United and Brentford, too, so it is hard to see them denying City when they are in this kind of mood. The visitors did recently lose at Aston Villa but they have responded brilliantly and having one of the best strikers in the world enhances their cause greatly.

Player To Score Two Or More Goals - Erling Haaland @ 18/5

That last point really finished nicely to lead us into selection number two - which reading back sounds like a line from a retro television contest.

Haaland is goalscoring personified. He is majestic, he is fantastic and he is going to heap more misery on Newcastle if we look at recent form. The Magpies don't seem as resolute defensively as they have been under Howe previously and I think City's number nine can profit on Saturday evening.

The Norway international, who has just secured his place at the Fifa World Cup finals next summer, is going to be on cloud nine coming into this clash. Not just for his country making the world stage for the first time since 1998 but also because goals have been flying in for him in the Premier League so far.

I'm backing him to score at least twice here given Newcastle's new sense of vulnerability, as well as the fact that the forward has already bagged five braces in the league in 2025/26.
