Newcastle vs Leeds Prediction: Can Farke continue unbeaten run?

We’ve got midweek Premier League action coming our way, and on Wednesday Newcastle United host Leeds United at St James’ Park (20:15 GMT, Sky Sports Cricket). 

Daniel Farke has turned Leeds’ season around in recent weeks, but this one feels like a big test. Below you can find my Newcastle vs Leeds predictions featuring team news and betting tips. 

Team News

Jacob Murphy is trying to make it back from his minor thigh issue in time for this game, and if he is fit, Eddie Howe may be happy to name the same XI as the one that comfortably beat Crystal Palace. 

Nick Woltemade could return to the starting line-up in place of Yoane Wissa in the number nine role, while Harvey Barnes offers a rotation option on the wing.

Leeds are without Daniel James and Joe Rodon, but Ethan Ampadu is back from suspension and should return in midfield. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will start up front in a 3-5-2, while James Justin and Gabriel Gudmundsson will continue at wing-back.

Newcastle are the 4/6 favourites to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 60% while Leeds are the 9/2 underdogs. Farke’s men will hope to spring a surprise, while a draw is backable at 3/1.

Over 2.5 goals is 4/5, BTTS is the same price and Woltemade is the favourite to find the net first at 7/2.

This is a fantastic price in my eyes as we back a Leeds team that have turned a corner in recent weeks to continue their unbeaten run. Farke’s switch to a 3-5-2 has transformed their season, and they are now unbeaten in seven games, with Calvert-Lewin leading the line superbly right now. 

Newcastle are rightfully the favourites here, having won their last two games, but I just think Leeds have looked so resolute lately. Leeds have drawn their last three and five of their last six, so I think 3/1 on another share of the spoils is a sensible first pick.
