Michael Carrick has been handed a baptism of fire in the first match of his second spell as Manchester United interim boss, as his side welcome local rivals Manchester City on Saturday (12:30 GMT, live on TNT Sports 1) for a highly-anticipated Manchester derby.

Both sides are desperate for a win, with the hosts sharing the spoils with Burnley before suffering a third-round exit in the FA Cup at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion since Ruben Amorim's departure, while Pep Guardiola's side have had to settle for draws in each of their last three league encounters. Noussair Mazraoui is still away with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, after their semi-final win over Nigeria, but Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo may return following their elimination from the competition.

Teenage forward Shea Lacey will be suspended after his late red card against Brighton, while Matthijs de Ligt remains on the treatment table.

As for City, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, Oscar Bobb, Ruben Dias and Savinho are all sidelined with various injury problems, and Omar Marmoush is still away on international duty with Egypt at Afcon.

United are 13/5 to claim all three points on Saturday, the draw is 3/1 and City are 19/20 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 51.3%.

Both teams to score is available at 1/2, while Erling Haaland currently leads the anytime goalscorer market at 7/10.

City and United lead the Premier League when it comes to expected goals (xG), with City's 40.2xG leading the way and the Red Devils' 39.3xG putting them second, so I'm be shocked to see a low-scoring game at Old Trafford.

Guardiola's side are going through an injury crisis with many first-choice names set to miss the short trip across Manchester this weekend, so United will fancy their chances of scoring here.

However, City have won more Premier League away games against United than any other visiting side (nine), while only Liverpool (41) have scored more goals at Old Trafford in the competition than the Citizens (37).

After the addition of Antoine Semenyo, City have a plethora of options in attack, spearheaded by the best number nine in the league in Haaland. Given the fact United have kept just two clean sheets in the league this season, City will make the most of their chances.

Phil Foden to score anytime @ 11/5

With seven goals in 12 derby appearances for City, Phil Foden is no stranger to stepping up for his side in these games.

The 25-year-old already has 10 goals to his name across all competitions this season, and with the attacking firepower City have got at their disposal, they should create chances at will on Saturday. Haaland is the obvious choice when it comes to goals, but I think Foden anytime at 11/5 is a cracking price.
