Super sunday football betting tips

Before the weekend’s Premier League action begun, Manchester United had one foot in next season’s Champions League. By the time their clash with Liverpool gets underway, they may even have two. Regardless of whether that status is confirmed or not the day before, they will be keen to get one over their local rivals when they visit Old Trafford.

While Liverpool are by no means secure when it comes to a top-five finish and although it is very much in the hands of Arne Slot’s men when it comes to Champions League qualification, there is no doubt that they have a difficult run of games between now and the final day. They may have a considerable points gap over the chasing pack, but they may need to use all of it to get over the line. Check out my Manchester United vs Liverpool predictions down below.

Team News

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has two injury doubts to contend with before the visit of Liverpool on Sunday and with both Matheus Cunha and Luke Shaw yet to prove they are fully fit; they may be given late assessments before any final starting eleven decisions are made.

Former Wolves player Cunha was forced to sit out of United’s recent 2-1 home win over Brentford as a hip flexor issue deemed him unavailable. Teammate Shaw limped off in the second half of Monday’s clash after picking up a knock and should he miss out on Sunday, Leny Yoro is expected to deputise.

As for visitors Liverpool, they once again go with Freddie Woodman between the sticks and although the Reds’ third-choice keeper was stricken moments before Crystal Palace’s controversial consolation at Anfield, the 29-year-old has shown no after effects that deem him unavailable for selection.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for teammate Mohamed Salah and after suffering a muscle injury in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Palace, there were fears that his Liverpool career had come to an end a month early. The Egyptian has lost the fitness race to play at Old Trafford but does believe he will return either on or before the final day of the league season.

Today's Football Fixtures

Manchester United Win & Over 2.5 Goals @ 9/5

This is an encounter that always seems to generate plenty of goals, although the equity between the two teams has been far from balanced on recent occasions. Liverpool registered a 3-0 league win at Old Trafford back in September 2024, they also recorded a 5-0 away win back in October 2021.

That was then though, this is now and with this United team looking a far more polished version than what it has been in recent years, they will look to redress the balance of power between the corridor of the M62. The fact that this game has seen three or more goals in the last eight encounters should not be overlooked. Nor should combining that with a home win on Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes Assist @ 15/8

Before Sunday’s visit of Liverpool, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has recorded 19 Premier League assists. Not only is he nine clear of both Rayan Cherki and Jarrod Bowen but he is also one short of the all-time record for a single season which is currently held by both Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

A record that he is in touching distance of claiming at least a third for himself and with everything seemingly running through the Portuguese midfielder in the attacking third of United’s playing patterns, this price to join the record breaking legion for assists seems far to good to turn down before the game gets underway.
