Team News
Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu is suspended for this game having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season, just one game before the five yellows rule is bumped up to 10 for the remainder of the campaign.
He will be a big miss for Daniel Farke, who has found great success with a 3-5-2 formation in recent weeks. Expect Ao Tanaka to come into the midfield in place of Ampadu, while Anton Stach and Ilia Gruev should play alongside him.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin should come back into the attack having been named on the bench against Liverpool, while Joel Piroe looks like he could leave the club during the January transfer window.
Manchester United could welcome captain Bruno Fernandes back against Leeds, as his hamstring injury isn’t as bad as first feared. He is racing to be fit for this one, as is Mason Mount, who missed the draw with Wolves.
Kobbie Mainoo and Matthijs de Ligt look set to miss out again, while Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui remain absent at Afcon.
Leeds vs Manchester United Predicted Lineups
- Leeds - Perri; Bornauw, Bijol, Struijk; Bogle, Tanaka, Stach, Gruev, Gudmundsson; Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.
- Manchester United - Lammens; Yoro, Martinez, Shaw; Dalot, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dorgu; Cunha, Zirkzee; Sesko.
Leeds vs Manchester United Odds
Leeds are priced at 13/8 to win this home game, with Manchester United the marginal favourites at 8/5. That gives the away side an implied win probability of 39%, while a draw is 12/5.
Over 2.5 goals is available at 4/5, BTTS is 8/13 and Calvert-Lewin is the favourite to open the scoring at 6/4.
Leeds vs Manchester United Stats
- Leeds are unbeaten in six games
- Calvert-Lewin has scored seven goals in seven games
Leeds to win @ 13/8
Leeds are on a good run of form right now. Farke was under pressure but since the switch to 3-5-2, they have gone six games unbeaten - and only lost to high-flying Aston Villa and Manchester City since the start of November.
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim came in for more stick after the 1-1 home draw with lowly Wolves, but the injury crisis and Afcon absentees aren’t helping him. Their defence looks short of quality, and without Bruno and Mount there is a real lack of quality in midfield.
I think Leeds, with a top atmosphere at Elland Road, should be able to topple this weakened Man Utd outfit.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score anytime @ 6/4
What a revelation DCL has been at Elland Road. After joining on a free in the summer, he has now found his groove and simply can’t stop scoring. His run of goals of late has been Erling Haaland-esque, as he has hit seven goals in his last seven games.
He came off the bench at Anfield and should be refreshed as a result, ready to take on this Manchester United backline. Amorim’s men have only kept one clean sheet in 12, so I’d expect Leeds to be able to score - and if they do, DCL is likely to be the man wheeling away in celebration.
