Everton vs Liverpool Prediction: Toffees can inflict further misery on Reds on Derby Day

The first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium takes place on Sunday afternoon (14:00 BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event) as Everton and Liverpool renew hostilities.
The Reds were eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, while the hosts left it late to salvage a draw with Brentford last time out. Read on for my Everton vs Liverpool predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Jack Grealish remains the major absentee from the Everton ranks, while Carlos Alcaraz's involvement is unclear despite returning to first-team training this week.
That apart, David Moyes should have a fully-fit squad at his disposal.
As for Liverpool, they were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday night as Hugo Ekitike suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, meaning that the Frenchman will miss the rest of the season.
Alisson Becker remains on the treatment table, along with Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo.

Alexander Isak leads the anytime goalscorer market at 13/8, while Everton are 6/5 to score first, and it's 5/6 for the Reds to open the scoring.
Everton vs Liverpool Stats
- Everton have won just one of their last 14 league home games against Liverpool
- Liverpool have won their last two outings against Everton - although both came at Anfield
Match Result - Everton @ 21/10
I understand that this is a derby and the old cliché of 'form goes out of the window' rings true, but I'm surprised to see Everton this big of a price for Sunday's showdown, when you consider the form of both sides.
Yes, victory in this fixture is rare for the Toffees as they've won just twice in the last 33 outings, although both of those wins have come since 2021, but Liverpool haven't won at Everton since December 2021.
In addition, Arne Slot's Reds have lost four out of their last five games, been dumped out of the Champions League and could feel the effects of playing six more games than their neighbours since the start of March.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Liverpool response here but I can't pass up the opportunity to back a home win at this price.

Both teams to score - no @ 1/1
Regardless of who wins, one thing's for certain when it comes to Merseyside derbies - it'll be a hard-fought contest.
That's why both teams to score - no appeals, as six of the last eight and 12 of the last 17 tussles between the pair have seen this as a winning bet. In addition, six of Liverpool's last eight, as well as four of Everton's last six, have also seen BTTS - no land.
So, I'm backing just one team to score on Sunday.
