Team News

Chelsea are having to cope without the versatile Malo Gusto on Saturday as he serves the first of a three-game suspension he picked up for his red card in the victory at Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The Blues will welcome back Joao Pedro as he was suspended for their Uefa Champions League encounter with Ajax. His fresh legs could be a huge advantage for the hosts against Sunderland.

Chelsea have a few injuries to deal with heading into the weekend with Liam Delap (hamstring), Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (thigh), Cole Palmer (groin) and Benoit Badiashile (unspecified) all out of action.

Premier League Odds

Sunderland have several injury concerns of their own in the form of Noah Sadiki (knock), Aji Alese (shoulder), Dennis Cirkin (wrist), Leo Hjelde (Achilles), Romaine Mundle (hamstring) and Habib Diarra (groin).

Chelsea vs Sunderland Predicted Lineups

  • Sunderland: Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Ballard, Reinildo; Rigg, Xhaka, Sadiki; Talbi, Isidor, Le Fee

Today's Football Fixtures

Chelsea vs Sunderland Odds

Chelsea have won four of their opening eight league matches, including their past two outings, and they are the 2/5 favourites to prevail here. They have kept clean sheets in two of them and they are 23/20 (implied probability of 46.5%) to win to nil.

The draw is priced at 18/5, with both clubs having drawn twice in the top flight this term. Sunderland have also won four games in the league but only one of them has come on their travels. They are 8/1 to pull off an upset here.

BTTS - Yes has struck in 63% (5/8) of Chelsea's Premier League fixtures in 2025/26, and this market is available at enticing 1/1 for Saturday.

Chelsea vs Sunderland Stats

  • Two of Chelsea's four league wins have seen BTTS strike
  • Trevoh Chalobah (CHE) has registered eight shots in seven league games

Chelsea and both teams to score @ 21/10

Chelsea have won three games on the spin in all competitions, with the latest being a 5-1 hammering of Ajax in the Uefa Champions League. The Blues took down Nottingham Forest last weekend in what was Ange Postecoglou's final match in charge of the Tricky Trees, and the league outing before that saw them beat Liverpool on home soil through a last-gasp winner.

There are plenty of positives surrounding Enzo Maresca's side this early on, and their squad depth plays a massive role in that. They boast far more attacking options than their visitors and I think this will help them to beat the Black Cats.

Sunderland have impressed me in the first two months of the campaign but there is no doubt that they look a stronger team when playing at home. That being said, I do think there could be a goal on offer to them here because BTTS has been frequent for the hosts this term.

Player to have one or more shots - Trevoh Chalobah @ 8/15

Chelsea are fortunate that they have players across all areas of the pitch who can help in the final third. Joao Pedro might be the biggest danger man but defender Trevoh Chalobah has been a nuisance when attacking for Chelsea this season.

The defender has already registered two goals in the top flight, as well as eight shots. Given how the Blues will often overload the opposition half for set-piecs or open play, I think Chalobah could be set to have more contributions in attack against Sunderland.

The Black Cats don't have the tallest set of players in the division, so the Chelsea centre-back could have an advantage when it comes to corners and free-kicks.
