Burnley vs Leeds Prediction: Turf Moor could aid the Clarets

Saturday's (15:00 BST) Premier League action presents what already seems like a big six-pointer in the battle for survival as newly-promoted sides Burnley and Leeds United clash at Turf Moor.

The Clarets took down Sunderland, the other promoted team, in August and they should fancy themselves against a Leeds side who haven't fared well on the road so far this term. Below you will find my Burnley vs Leeds predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Burnley's Jordan Beyer (hamstring) and Connor Roberts (knee) have both suffered setbacks in their respective recoveries from injury, while Zeki Amdouni remains out with a long-term knee issue.

Jaidon Anthony, the Clarets' top scorer with four goals, will be assessed ahead of the game due to a knock he picked up against Aston Villa last time out. The same goes for front man Lyle Foster, who suffered a dead leg on international duty with South Africa.

Hjalmar Ekdal was left out of the matchday squad for the defeat at Villa for tactical reasons and it will be interesting to see if he will return to the fold against Leeds. If not, Josh Laurent, Axel Tuanzebe and Maxime Esteve are expected to continue in the back line.

Premier League Odds

Willy Gnonto (hernia) and Harry Gray (hip) are both ruled out through injury for Leeds. Noah Okafor (adductor) is a doubt, while Daniel James and Lucas Perri could be in line to return to the squad after recovering from respective ankle and muscle problems.

Boss Daniel Farke has stuck with the same XI for the past four league games, so there is unlikely to be many changes to the team in Lancashire unless they are forced.

Anton Stach has had a bright start to life for the Whites, and he is set to feature in midfield again alongside Ethan Ampadu and Sean Longstaff.

Burnley vs Leeds Predicted Lineups

  • Burnley - Dubravka; Walker, Laurent, Tuanzebe, Esteve, Hartman; Tchaouna, Florentino, Cullen, Anthony; Foster
  • Leeds - Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Stach, Ampadu, Longstaff; Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor

Today's Football Fixtures

Burnley vs Leeds Odds

Burnley beat Sunderland 2-0 here in August and they are 23/10 (implied probability of 30.3%) to beat Leeds.

They have experienced one draw here and the stalemate is marketed at 9/4.

Leeds have won one of their three away trips in the top flight and they are 13/10 to collect the three points here.

All three of Burnley's home league games have produced under 2.5 goals, which is valued at 4/6.

Burnley vs Leeds Stats

  • Burnley have already beaten a promoted rival in Sunderland
  • Jaidon Anthony (BUR) has four PL goals this term

Draw No Bet - Burnley @ 5/4

This feels like a big game despite us only being in October. In the first season as a promoted side from the Championship, these are the games that are deemed must-wins. This is expected to be a tight affair which it was last term in the second tier, with the game ending 0-0.

Both sides were very good at cancelling each other out but they have both made additions to their squads over the summer, hoping for that injection of quality to help be the difference this time around.

Burnley looked good when they took down Sunderland and they did keep Liverpool at bay, despite losing as the result of a late handball. Leeds have won once on the road but lost the other two outings, so this is likely to be another stern test for Farke's men.

Equally, it is a big challenge for the hosts and Scott Parker will be drilling into his players how a result here could go a long way come May. My head thinks that could be in for a draw here again, but my heart thinks Burnley at Turf Moor may just edge the Whites.

Parker will be hoping this man will be fit to play on Saturday because he has had an explosive start to the Premier League campaign. His four goals are only bettered by Antoine Semenyo (six) and Erling Haaland (nine) so he is keeping in very good company.

Two of his goals have come on home soil and I think he will be lively at Turf Moor again. There is also the narrative that comes with him facing his old side, having spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Leeds from AFC Bournemouth.

I think the stage is set for him to haunt his former employers.
