Thomas Frank heads back to the Gtech Community Stadium for the first time as the away manager on New Year's Day, as his Tottenham Hotspur side take on Brentford (20:00 GMT, live on Sky Sports Premier League).

Frank's replacement in the Brentford hotseat, Keith Andrews, has defied expectations and they currently sit three places ahead of Spurs in the table. Read on for my Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Sepp van den Berg missed Brentford's win over Bournemouth due to a knock so his availability remains up in the air.

Fabio Carvalho, Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo remain long-term absentees for the Bees, while Dango Ouattara and Frank Onyeka are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

As for Spurs, Lucas Bergvall was withdrawn early last time out against Crystal Palace but there's optimism that the teenager will be fit enough to feature here.

Xavi Simons will be suspended for Thursday's trip to the Gtech, while Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke (all injured), Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma (both Afcon) will also be absent. However, Cristian Romero is back from suspension after his red card against Liverpool.

Brennan Johnson may not be involved on Thursday after reports emerged that Spurs and Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m deal for the winger.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineups

  • Brentford: Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Ajer, Henry; Yarmoliuk, Janelt, Jensen; Lewis-Potter, Thiago, Schade
  • Tottenham Hotspur: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Gray; Kudus, Odobert, Kolo Muani; Richarlison

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Brentford are 13/10 with our traders to claim all three points here, giving them an implied win probability of 43.5%, the draw is 12/5 and a Spurs win is 11/5.

Both teams to score can be backed at 8/11 and Igor Thiago currently leads the anytime goalscorer market at 23/20.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur Stats

  • Brentford have failed to win any of their four Premier League home games against Tottenham
  • Tottenham have won their last four Premier League matches against Brentford
  • Brentford have won eight of their last 12 Premier League home games

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 6/5

This fixture has a history of goals, so that's what I'm predicting for Thursday's encounter.

In their last 10 meetings across all competitions, Spurs have recorded six wins, compared to one for Brentford, with three matches ending in draws. Over that period, Tottenham have scored 19 goals to Brentford’s 10, averaging 2.9 goals per game.

Four of the last seven matches between the pair has seen over 2.5 goals land, with both teams scoring in four of those contests.

Igor Thiago to score anytime @ 23/20

The Brentford marksman has 11 goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season, and is worth backing to add to his tally on Thursday, in my opinion.

Granted, Thiago hasn't scored since the 3-1 win over Burnley at the end of November, however, the Brazilian's best work tends to come at the Gtech Community Stadium - seven of those 11 strikes have come in front of his own fans.

He recorded an assist in the win over Bournemouth, and I'm backing him to score anytime on Thursday against a Spurs defence that had a hard time keeping clean sheets.
