Where do we land then, Tottenham Hotspur? Their survival bid was kept alive with a win over Wolves last time out, and although wins for their fellow relegation contenders Nottingham Forest and West Ham meant that they didn’t make up any ground.

Their next test is a trip to Aston Villa (19:00 BST, TNT Sports 1), and below you can find my Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Bet Builder Tips as we search for a winner.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Tottenham to win

I think this is a pretty good fixture for Spurs - better than most pundits believe anyway. Aston Villa are coming into this game knowing they have a far bigger fixture to come on Thursday night, as they host Nottingham Forest in the Europa League looking to overturn a one-goal deficit.

European glory is now their priority, with their big guns surely being saved for their semi-final. They are almost guaranteed to finish in the top five and qualify for the Champions League, with an eight-point advantage over Brighton with four to play, and so the Premier League doesn’t matter all that much to Unai Emery right now.

Villa have lost their last two games 1-0, while Spurs have improved slightly under Roberto De Zerbi. They’ve got four points from their last two matches, and I just can’t see a world in which they go down. The fixtures have favoured them here, so I back Spurs to grab a rare away win.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Stats

  • Aston Villa have lost their last two games 1-0
  • Spurs have four points from their last two
  • Bogarde has five yellows this term

Conor Gallagher to get carded

I’m gonna back a couple of cards along with a Spurs win, to get our Bet Builder odds up. Let’s start with Conor Gallagher. He picked up his first booking of his Spurs career against Wolves and although that may put some punters off, I think Tottenham are going to become more combative and dirtier under De Zerbi.

Gallagher should start in midfield again and should be there to put in another energetic display, potentially full of tactical fouls. Aston Villa are good at winning the midfield battle, but Gallagher will want to give the away side a platform to perform. I just think he could be in line for another yellow.

Lamare Bogarde to get carded

Aston Villa’s young midfielder Lamare Bogarde should come into the Villa midfield for this one, as he started the last PL game at Fulham and briefly came on vs Forest. With Amadou Onana or Youri Tielemans going to be rested ahead of the UEL semi-final second leg, Bogarde should play a decent chunk of minutes.

He’s got five yellows in 25 Premier League appearances so far this term, and I think this will be a battling Sunday night fixture, with plenty of bookings.
