Arsenal to win

United's excellent performance in their derby win over Manchester City will have put a spring in the step of the Old Trafford squad as they head south for their second match under interim manager Michael Carrick.

However, an away game against Arsenal is as tough a fixture as it gets in the Premier League this season and the top-flight leaders should clock up another victory.

The Gunners have won nine of their 11 home fixtures in the league this season, plus four wins at the Emirates in cup competitions.

United have won only three of their 11 away games in the top flight and they have not won any of their last six league clashes with Arsenal, losing five and drawing one.

Premier League Odds

Both teams to score

Arsenal have conceded only five goals in home league matches this season, but those goals came in five separate matches, so they have allowed a goal in almost half of their 11 contests.

The Gunners' defence has been breached in four of their last five home league and cup fixtures and in United they are facing opponents who are well accustomed to both scoring and conceding in matches.

Both teams have found the net in 13 of the Red Devils' last 16 games, while seven of their last 10 meetings with Arsenal have seen goals for both clubs.

Arsenal vs Manchester United Stats

  • Arsenal have won and both teams have scored in four of their last six Premier League home games
  • Viktor Gyokeres has scored in two of the last three Arsenal games
  • Harry Maguire was booked in both of his games against Arsenal last season

Today's Football Fixtures

Gyokeres to score at any time

Viktor Gyokeres took a while to settle in at Arsenal after his summer transfer from Sporting, but the Swedish striker has hit form now and history suggests it would be wise to expect more goals.

Gyokeres supplied a goal and an assist in Arsenal's 3-2 EFL Cup semi-final win at Chelsea and smashed home the superb third goal in the midweek Champions League win at Inter.

When the Swede gets hot he can really catch fire, as he showed when scoring 57 goals last season.

Gyokeres began that campaign by scoring in each of his first nine matches (14 goals in all) and he had two other spells of scoring in six successive games, as well as back-to-back hat-tricks last April.

Maguire to be shown any card

Arsenal and United are two of the best-behaved teams in the Premier League this season with only 30 total cards each, while Tottenham have accumulated 60.

However, Red Devils defender Harry Maguire looks a prime candidate to pick up a caution in the game given his record against Arsenal.

Maguire was booked in his team's 2-1 home defeat by Brighton two weeks ago and played only the final 10 minutes of the opening-day fixture between these teams.

However, he was booked in both of his games against Arsenal last season - in an FA Cup tie and the league meeting at the Emirates.
