Once again, the three promoted teams from the Championship will face a big challenge to try and stay in the Premier League at the first time of asking. Last season, it was a clean sweep as Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town were all relegated at the first time of asking. Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town come up with differing hopes, but the same goal of survival.

Below I’ve taken a look at the Premier League To Stay Up Odds, and discussed each team’s chances in 2024/25.

Premier League To Stay Up Odds 2024/25

Let’s break down the contenders. As you can see from these odds, obviously the value lies in backing one of the newly-promoted teams to stay up, so let’s do exactly that.

Leicester @ 13/8

Not for me guvnor. They are the longest price side in this market for a reason, and the worst team in this current Premier League line-up. I like Steve Cooper as a manager and wish him every success, but he doesn’t appear to have been given the tools to do a good job here.

Enzo Maresca departed this summer for Chelsea, and star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall followed him out the door. Arguably this current squad is not only weaker than the one they had last season, but worse than the one that came down from the Premier League in the first place. 37-year-old Jamie Vardy will need to consume an unhuman amount of Red Bulls to keep the Foxes up.

Ipswich @ 5/6

Now we are talking. My selection to stay up in the Premier League this season, and flourish, is Ipswich Town. The biggest signing of the summer for them was Kieran McKenna, as their influential manager signed a new and improved deal rather than jumping ship. And boy, what a manager he is.

He’s taken the Tractor Boys from 15th in League 1 to the Premier League in two-and-a-half seasons, recording points totals of 98 and 96 in his last two campaigns. It’s been an insane ride. Teams from League 1 don’t usually hit nearly a century of points in the Championship in their first season, and this Ipswich team is not normal. I think with Portman Road behind them, they will carry on this momentum and shock a few big guns along the way.

They’ve added Omari Hutchinson on a permanent deal, while Jacob Greaves has also arrived from Hull City, with more additions on the way. They can go well this season. Although a lot of their squad played in the third tier, they just don’t know how to lose games right now.

Southampton @ 8/11

I think Southampton have a chance under Russell Martin. They were a possession-heavy side in the Championship last term, and made several blunders towards the start of his reign. However, they got themselves sorted, went on a 25-game unbeaten run, and then beat Leeds in the play-off final.

Premier League Odds

Flynn Downes is a wonderful midfield addition on a permanent deal, while Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Nathan Wood and Ronnie Edwards are all hugely talented young centre-backs. If Martin can keep confidence up and get early points on the board, they stand a chance, but I am slightly concerned about their goalscoring ability.

Adam Armstrong produced last season, but has struggled in the Premier League in the past, while I don’t know if Adam Lallana’s return will shift the needle in terms of creativity. Ross Stewart coming back to fitness may help, but they need goals.

Nottingham Forest @ 2/7

I’d err on the side of caution in the case of Nottingham Forest, and steer clear of backing them to stay up. Forest have made some progress in the transfer market, selling Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala for big money while bringing in Elliott Anderson from Newcastle.

With Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo, they have two top Premier League players, but they were rubbish last term. They amassed just 32 points, the lowest in PL history for a team that survived, and will need to improve by eight or so points just to remain in 17th spot this year. At this price, I’m not sure it’s worth the risk.

Everton @ 1/4

Too short to back in my eyes, even though I think Everton will be safe. I don’t think their squad is littered with quality and they are still being careful in the transfer market, but they have Sean Dyche. He should do enough to keep them up, in their final season at Goodison Park.
